Article up on the Sierra Madre Patch contains the following e-mail from Joe Mosca, sent out today to his supporters:
Dear Friends:
I hope all is well with you. I would like to let you know of an important family decision that Matt and I have recently made.
As you might know, Matt is an HIV physician and researcher, and recently his company has promoted him and transfered him to an international position located in London. After much careful thought, we have decided that it is best for the entire family to move together to London.
So, it is with mixed feelings that I let you know I will be stepping down from City Council as of the first City Council meeting in November. I will make this announcement tonight at a City Council meeting.
Over the next several weeks, I will reach out to all of you to personally thank you and to chat more about our move.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Joe

omg
ReplyDeleteSo will there have to be a special election to replace him?
ReplyDeleteOr does the position automatically go to the person in the last election who got the highest votes next to the council members?
Crawford, please give us a summary of the AOL site's article.
ReplyDeleteHate to go on that & have my data capture.
November!
ReplyDeleteAh heck.
That's where he's been.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say to the Brits is that I am heartily sorry and good luck with him.
My theme song for the rest of the day? Kool and the Gang's "Celebrate"
ReplyDeleteThat's the very best news we could have possibley received! OMG! Jose Mosca is retiring from the City Council and leaving Sierra Madre! The County! The State! The United States! That's it for his political career! A wake of carnage behind him and a failed attempt to insert himself into the Democratic political machine! Oh happy day!
ReplyDeleteIf this turns out to be some sort of cruel Patchy trick there will be trouble.
ReplyDeleteWe always knew this guy was not a keeper.
ReplyDeleteNovember? Can't he just leave tonight?
ReplyDelete1:16, in his head he already left, a long time ago....
ReplyDeleteThe majority can change in April.
ReplyDeleteCorrection, after the first election and instant betrayal, we knew this guy was not a keeper.
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHAHAHAHA! I AM SO HAPPY! We must go to the City Council meeting tonight and clap/hollar when he makes his announcement!
ReplyDeleteNA NA NA NA - NA NA NA NA - HEY, HEY, HEY, GOOD BYE!!!!
Explains why he has been blowing off meetings and parties lately. Guess the Assembly thing didn't quite work out.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be John "Bonds" Buchanan's foresworn duty to run for a third term to offset the loss of Joe Mosca! Watch him make the hard decision to run again!
ReplyDeleteI guess we won't have Joe Mosca to kick around anymore.
ReplyDeleteExile in a SOCIALIST country(U.K.) is the best "reward" for his appaling behavior here! He'll fit right in!
ReplyDeleteOh my who what will Joey do in merry ol' England?
ReplyDeleteNo So Cal Gas, no lawyer credentials.
He is unemployable.
No work VISA
So there is a God.
ReplyDeleteImagone. Nancy and josh versus the new slow growth majority. Won't that be special?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this nightmare of embarrassing ineptitude and deceit is finally over. Is it true?
ReplyDeleteI have to go buy some lottery tickets.
ReplyDelete1:24, I had thought he'll be a house husband.
ReplyDeleteHe does not have the intellectual goods to engage in the form of political discourse that exists in England.
London? Not far enough.
ReplyDeleteAre we allowed to bring champagne into a city council meeting?
ReplyDeletePatchy may have been given the story but they only have one comment whereas the Tattler has 25 and counting...
ReplyDeletePram pusher.
ReplyDeleteStar News article confirms it. It's for real!!
ReplyDeleteShouldn't the next in line vote getter take his seat? We Want Watts!!!
ReplyDeleteFolks, let's make a city wide pledge to not elect a liar again.
ReplyDeleteOur long nightmare is over.
ReplyDeleteYou know what's going to be hard to stomach? The farewell speeches, full of untruths about how Mosca has helped any damn thing.
ReplyDeleteHe's leaving town in justly deserved disgrace.
He'll have a very difficult time studying and getting a law license in the UK. And London--well, it's a bit different from little Sierra Madre--no 4th of July parades to mess up. Oh, how hilarious. About 7 years too late, though. Let's figure out what's likely to happen before we get too happy. They're not likely to appoint someone real to fill his place.
ReplyDeleteJoe will not receive a royal welcome.
ReplyDeleteHow about a private celebration in November?
Let's organize a going away party for the Mosca-Bossypants family - about a week after they've packed the last carpet bag and left town!
ReplyDeleteSunday afternoon in Kersting Court works for me.
ReplyDeleteAttention MacGillivray campaign staff.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to talk.....soon.
Kurt Zimmerman? If you're reading this, how about we take back Sierra Madre?
We Want Watts!!!
ReplyDeleteGuess Joe Mosca didn't love this dear little village so close to all our hearts, and serving the 31 little cities that he was so proud of, after all.
ReplyDeleteJoe's Assembly run went nowhere. Matt got a overseas job offer and told him to sh*t or get off the pot.
ReplyDeleteZIMMERMAN
ReplyDeleteZIMMERMAN
ZIMMERMAN
ZIMMERMAN
ZIMMERMAN
Please email or call Kurt and ask him to run again.
ReplyDeleteWe want KZ!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone ever resigned from the city council before? Is there a succession procedure?
ReplyDeleteThis is an opportune time for Kurt Zimmerman to return to politics and pull Sierra Madre out of the morass it's stuck in.
ReplyDeleteSomebody should ask the City Attorney what happens once Mosca is off the Council.
ReplyDeleteCincinnatus = Zimmerman
ReplyDeleteNow more than ever, we need Kurt as our Mayor. Is there somebody who posts on this board who can talk him into running again?
ReplyDeleteZimmerman saved this town once; he can do it again.
ReplyDeleteMosca gone now. Buchanan gone in April. Take back this town!
ReplyDeleteCalling Kurt Zimmerman.
ReplyDeleteLook at it this way. We take back the City Council and Josh Moran does not become mayor.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the candidate with the next most votes is supposed to be seated, and that would be Don Watts, if he's willing to take the chair. The city council cannot just appoint someone to fill Mosca's seat; if Watts cannot do it, then there will have to be a special election. Perhaps Mosca, in one last act of good faith, would be willing to foot the bill for that? Also, I don't think councilpeople can serve more than two consecutive terms at a time. JB will have to sit out this election and wait four years before he runs again, won't he? And isn't it coincidental that Joe's leaviong as of November when the shit is really going to hit the fan over the ALF, UUT, and the outrageously deceitful tactics used by council members, Joe especially, to push for the water rate increase in an attempt to foist ever more bond debt on the city (JB's big dream). Great timing for Traitor Joe, indeed. Too bad for the Brits, but I don't think they'll go for his cute little boy act. Too bad he wasn't there for the riots, eh?!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Pat Alcorn?
ReplyDeleteThere is a chance now to restore maturity and intelligence to the council.
ReplyDeleteWhat an unexpected possibility!
2:56 pm & 3:12 pm
ReplyDeleteThere is a legal mechanism in the State Constitution that addresses this sort of scenario. When an elected official leaves office in the first half of the term, the position must be filled by election.
If they vacate the office in the second half of the term, then the City Council can either call for an election, or appoint someone to fill the vacancy.
In this case, Joe Mosca's City Council seat must be filled through the election process. Therefore, I suspect that seat will be included with the other two (2) in April's City Council election.
Oh! One more thing. Don't think that the Dirt's weren't aware of this beforehand. We may be surprised by this news, but they are not. They designed their strategy well before the story was released.
Gee we are going to miss Joe, I am so broke up I had to find a poem,to express my feelings this one seems appropriate:
ReplyDeleteEvil Slave
+14Hatred seeks to shorten
the hesitant hand of hope
it looks to snuff the light of trust
leaving us all to grope
In the darkness of misconceptions
where partiality breeds
wrath quickly germinates
persecutions scattered seeds
For these are sown far too deep
and watered with human vile
then perpetuated by intolerance
ignorantly misguided all the while.
This poem was written/submitted by Donna Haynes.
If this is a seat that goes to the next highest vote talley, great. I like Watts and Zimmerman...I am also very impressed with the energy and savy exhibited by Denise Delmar. Also she is young and would fly in the face of Moron and Tip Toe and give much needed support to MaryAnn. Denise is also articulate and quick on her feet. We should give her a long look for Council.
ReplyDeleteThis is too good.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the Tatts
Denise Delmar is crucial on the General Plan Committee. We need her there. Maybe 2014
ReplyDeleteThank you for that reminder 3:21. They may lack integrity and a conception of the common good, but the people who can take the most credit for Joe Mosca's success do not lack cunning.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Johnny B thinks about Joe ditching him. Couldn't have happened at a worst time as afr as he is concerned..
ReplyDeleteAs 3:21 pointed out, undoubtedly Mr. Buchanan, Mr. Moran, Ms. Walsh, and city staff have known about this for a while.
ReplyDeleteThere have been some subdued yet surly moods evident. This explains a lot.
Wow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good day for Sierra Madre.
God, you people are horrible. I have never seen such a sniveling bunch of ignorant twits comment on Mosca's resignation...You are, indeed, to be held accountable for your comments.
ReplyDeleteKurt and Don are proven leaders. Everybody else who chooses to run are question marks. Given everything that's going on in this City, I'm not about to vote for a question mark.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, Kurt or Don will decide to run.
We need to have an intervention with Kurt and force him to run again.
ReplyDeleteAccountable 4:54? Sure, count 'em all you want. There are a lot of them. None very complimentary to the carpetbagger, though.
ReplyDeleteHey 4:54, although many of us have poor opinions with regard to Joe Mosca, we also are tolerant about others' opinions. Normally, I would not post when someone countered my opinion. I would open my mind, listen, and use applicable logic. However, I cannot ignore your ignorant comment as follows:
ReplyDelete"You are, indeed, to be held accountable for your comments."
How exactly are you going to hold anyone accountable for his or her comments? You cannot capture our data through the site. Nor can you repress our constitutional rights. So again, I ask, how exactly will you hold us accountable? Tell the teacher? Have us sent to the principal's office? Grow up 4:54!
Bring popcorn. This should be a hoot.
ReplyDeleteObviously 4:54 agrees with Joe's politics using obfuscation! In case 4:54 needs the definition, here is the link
ReplyDeletehttp://dictionary.reference.com/browse/obfuscate
Bossypants has been turning down offers for seven years to give Mosca is chance to make it big in politics. Well, he didn't. When the Dems turned him down for his assembly run he realized it was time to move on. Bon voyage, Joe and Matt. We're throwing a block party when the moving vans pull out!
ReplyDelete4:54, I agree that there is too much personal anger in some of the comments, but that's a natural result when people are lied to and there's orchestrated smear and cover-up campaigns.
ReplyDeleteJoe Mosca lied to the people of Sierra Madre, never apologized and never made right.
He and his handlers twisted the truth around and made innocent people out to be devious, while it was they who were devious all along.
You bet there's some anger.
Seems to me tht Joey left "Bonds" Buchanan holding the bag on the bond indebtedness, Measure V, and the UUT. Six months to go and he's out there on his own accountable to all for the transgressions of his cohorts for the last seven and a half years. Way to go, John!
ReplyDeleteTypical pro-development guy.
ReplyDeleteHit town, do damage, and move on.
Such very good news. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMosca has seriously hurt Sierra Madre.
ReplyDeleteAfter the council of 2004 destroyed public trust by voting for developing the hillsides, against the residents' loud and clear opposition, came the time to restore the community's faith in their representatives.
Mosca was voted in on false promises as one of the people who would do that restoration. He proved himself to be a turncoat almost immediately, and the strife and outright distrust of city staff and councils continued.
He lost a genuine opportunity to make a constructive, positive difference.
It is Mosca who has an accounting to face.
I was one of Joe's biggest supporters too and was devastated by his filp flop after the election -- i.e., promising to put the DSP on the ballot and then deciding that any vote on the DSP would be "advisory."
ReplyDeleteHe should also be faulted for the inept and deceitful way he handled the water rate increase when he was Mayor.
I'm glad he will be leaving the Country.
Nancy Walsh just had a melt down on Ch 3
ReplyDeleteI just had the strangest hallucination!
ReplyDeleteNancy Walsh got all huffy and called for people to step down from the General Plan Update Committee, and claimed that it was wrong to call the General Plan the people's document!
Ohhh Nancy. That was a very large mistake.
I was Joe and susan's supporters. I got mixed into the mess, and have been angry at the lies and deceit. He never stood up for anyone decent as the lies kept weaving thicker and thicker. He could not keep up with what he was saying and doing. Joe confused himself and blamed others constantly.
ReplyDeleteHe is running away from the truth and Matt is running also. they should both be ashamed and are not.
Quick and "slick move" to leave the pile of lies when an apology and checking into a facility is what the good doctor knows is needed.
It takes a long time to get a job anywhere, much less overseas.....
Somebody better pull Nancy Walsh aside and explain to her
ReplyDelete1) what a general plan is, and
2) what a council member report is.
Poor dear.
As if the Attorney General cannot issue an order for an extradition to Great Britian for all his illegal activities for the past 7 years.
ReplyDeleteNancy is off her meds.
ReplyDeleteNancy Walsh read that speech. So who wrote it?
ReplyDeleteThat was a breath-taking tantrum, displaying the emotional maturity of a two-year old.
ReplyDeleteThe council is supposed to write the General Plan?
ReplyDeleteHeaven help us.
Sounds like someone is trying to organize a GP putsch.
ReplyDeleteI really did not anticipate that Nancy Walsh's tirade against the General Plan Update Steering Committee would push Joe's resignation off center stage tonight.
ReplyDeleteNancy is running for fuhrer.
ReplyDeleteShe was quivering with moral indignation as she strove to establish the supremacy of herself and the council. Actually brought to mind Caligula's fits.
ReplyDeleteSo much for the idea of public service.
ReplyDeleteNo Measure V vote. No more sunset clause for the UUT. Starting to see a pattern here?
ReplyDeleteNancy sure wasn't very civil was she?
ReplyDeleteTime for her to step down. She is not well.
Where are her friends?
ReplyDeleteDon't they care enough about her to help?
Who did she want to resign?
ReplyDeleteI sure hope the Tattler can explain the Nancy meltdown and the subsequent descent into madness regarding the GP document. That's worse than Joe's attack on the committee.
ReplyDeleteMust be the DIRT last stand, all the other rats are bailing off the ship.
The Gang of 4 minus 1 is losing it.
ReplyDeleteThat was embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteHow dare that council member use the meeting for her own venomous attacks on a sitting committee and on a fellow council member?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the departing Mosca egged her on - one last little prank.
Nancy wanted Denise Del Mar (chair), Colin Brodrick, and Debbie Sheridan to step down.
ReplyDeleteShe also wanted Maryann to no longer be the liaison.
What a day in local politics!
ReplyDeleteJoe obviously coached her. They share a love for the imperious. And the fact that he is resigning (thank heaven) put it into their little minds to call for other resignations.
ReplyDeleteNancy Walsh maintains that the General Plan is not the people's document. Really, what more is there to say?
ReplyDeleteThe only council member I have ever heard over the past few decades be as rude to residents as Nancy Walsh was tonight was the infamous Bart Doyle.
ReplyDeleteNancy Walsh does not have the intellegence to put together that script that she read.
My bet would be that Bart wrote that script for her. No one else up there would have been that dumb to even read that, except Nancy Walsh.
Nasty Nancy the volunteer basher.
ReplyDeleteTo all applicants applying for Sierra Madre Commissions:
ReplyDeleteWARNING!!!!! Nancy Walsh says "we put you in and we can take you out".
You serve at the pleasure of The Nancinator.
ReplyDeleteDidn't they just appoint Colin for another commission, not to long ago?
ReplyDeleteNo on Measure U.
ReplyDeleteNasty Nancy, the wicked witch of Sierra Madre.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't even need a costume for Halloween.
Bart Doyle was at all Nancy Walsh's campaign coffees. He was there to field questions and make comments for the idiot Nancy.
ReplyDeleteJust think all you dummies who voted for this old witch.....you could have elected Don Watts, Pat Alcorn or John Crawford.
I'll bet there are a lot of people watching tonight who wish they could take their vote back.
I saw the comments on the board, the people are allowed to input to the general plan, but the city council approves or denies the plan by vote. It is the cities general plan.. you are just people who live there. Technically it is not the peoples plan. Your city just paid what was it 736 thousand to reup its ability to keep the community redevelopment program. There are two different sets of what is the greater good here. You are crushing the redevelopment mellow, Nancy just spilled the ignorant beans..
ReplyDeleteIt is the end of the G4.....they will fall like the fly...Mosca...
ReplyDeletepathetic, ignorant, uneducated and lack sophistication...
how embarrassing.
I wonder why every time an important issue is on the agenda, or some remarkable event such as Walsh's tirade occurs, the city link to watching the meeting is down? Tried several times to access the meeting only to be told they were experiencing technical difficulties?
ReplyDeleteJoe's greatest sin is that he poisoned political discourse in this town. Who, after all, can forget his desperate "homophobes" charge against those who objected to his breach of his central campaign promise - to kill the DSP. What a jerk.
ReplyDeleteThat said, his career is dead and he is leaving. This gives us an opportunity to restore the civility Joe happily disturbed whenever it suited his purposes. I for one aim to try. Unless and until that cranky ginger haired guy decides to break tradition and run for a third term.
With Nancy Walsh injecting that unprecedented, arrogant and aggressive tirade into tonight's meeting, the potential for civility is as faraway as it's ever been.
ReplyDeleteDonald Segretti, what kind of C r e e p's, were TV LLC involved with? From the latest story in the San Gab tribune. When I was searching Segretti among the numerous sites, I saw a story by a Moxley, called Pyramid Scheme, posted in OC weekly Sept 30, 2011. There is a reference to Collateral Monte, and men who claimed to have FBI and CIA connections, Please read these stories dear editor, there is going to be a test.
ReplyDeleteDear Editor, this is the story after I posted the last comment went back to the story, it was removed!!!! it was only there for a few hours, maybe Tedford will give you a copy Darn...
ReplyDelete1. Attorney involved in Watergate represented El Monte Transit Village developers in deposition (87%)
10/11/2011 - EL MONTE - A convicted Watergate conspirator represented failed El Monte developers in legal proceedings earlier this year. similar results

re: Nancy Walsh
ReplyDeleteas Jed Clampett would say, "she's a couple bricks shy of a load"
bona fide batty
def. civility 1. courtesy; politeness 2. a polite attention or expression. Huh? Guess Nancy forgot to read the definition before she made that her platform when she ran for City Council. She has been anything but polite to MaryAnn tonight and the meetings preceeding. Has anyone noticed her facial expressions every time MacGillivray speaks?
ReplyDeleteBy the way the council has the option to appoint someone to fill Mosca's term, it can be anyone that is a registered voter in Sierra Madre. No telling how they will come up with a candidate without violating the Brown Act.
I'm trying to think of something nice to say about Joe, but the word "liar" keeps coming to mind
ReplyDeletenow Buchanan will be left holding the recognition as the primary point person who lied about the water tax hike
unless he blames it all on Joe
all I know that anybody Buchanan, Moran or Walsh endores certainly ain't good for the city
