Star News: Voter Fraud Allegations Pointed At PCC's Jeanette Mann

So just as the new postcard to re-elect Dr. Jeanette Mann went out to the voters (complete with endorsements by such Sierra Madre political luminaries as Mayor John Buchanan, Mayor Pro Tem Josh "Spanky" Moran and blast from the past Enid Joffe), along comes one of those inconvenient truths that we have all heard so much about. And as far as The Tattler is concerned, the timing couldn't have been any more sweet.

Here is how the Pasadena Star News (click here) breaks it down for us:

Voter fraud allegation pointed at PCC's Jeanette Mann: Allegations of voter fraud have been leveled against Pasadena City College trustee Jeanette Mann by her opponent in next week's election, Brian Fuller. Fuller alleges Mann, a seven-term member of the PCC board, either participated in or knew of illegal votes cast by her adult children Stephen and Katherine Mann from their mother's Pasadena address.

"The facts are the ballots had to come to 2195 E. Orange Grove Blvd., where she is a resident," Fuller said. "She looks at the mail and for her to say she has not seen the ballot begs the question how could she not know?"

According to the voter database Political Data, Stephen Mann has voted in at least 21 elections since 1992, including local elections. The database list 521 Clair Creek Blvd. in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada as his home address. In his complaint, Fuller implied that Jeanette Mann cast the ballots for her son.

The Pasadena Sub Rosa blog, which was mentioned in the Pasadena Star News article, has some great coverage on the voter fraud allegations being hurled at erstwhile PCC Trustee-For-Life Mann, and I strongly suggest that you check it out by clicking here. One breaking news item in particular jumps out, and we are reposting it here.

Stephen Mann Has Already Voted In PCC Race - According to up to date records from Political Data, Inc., which they got from the LA County Registrar, Stephen Mann's ballot has been cast and returned. In other words, Stephen Mann, 19 year resident of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, has voted in this election.

The allegations show this to be a pretty cozy set up for Jeanette Mann. Her Canadian son's ballot gets sent to her house in Pasadena, she fills it out (voting for herself, of course), and then she mails it in. Vote and vote often, as they say.

What makes this even more uncomfortable for the Mann Clan is that Stephen is apparently registered to vote in Waterloo, Canada. You can check this out for yourself by clicking here, and then typing in the following information: Stephen Mann, date of birth 07/24/1963 (24/7/1963 in Canada), street number 521, street name Clair Creek, street type Boulevard, place Waterloo.

According to the Star News article there is also some interest in this case from the DA's office.

Dave Demerjian, head of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office Public Integrity Division, has received the complaint and said the claim is "currently being reviewed."

No word yet if John Buchanan, Josh Moran or Enid Joffe have yet to reconsider their endorsement of alleged serial voter Jeanette Mann. Though personally I doubt they'll say a word. It just would not be their style to do otherwise.

  1. Not good for neighboring Pasadena's mayor Bill Bogaard to be associated with a serial voter. Buchanan and Moran are simply trying to figure out how they can cash in on votes in this little burgh. Mann has been caught in so many unethical, immoral and illegal brouhahas she thinks she'll emerge tarnished but victorious. The wonder is that any honest citizen can be found to go up against the machine. They're all so tainted they have to stick together.

  2. I'd say that John and Josh have laid down with a dog and gotten fleas, but they have so many of their own already.

  3. Star News is still recommending Mann in spite of her shenannigans - with the caveat that she come clean on her son's voting issue and work on her relationship with the PCC faculty.

  4. When did Mayor Buchanan go strawberry blonde?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Interesting 5:51. The PSN crushes her one day and offers her an endorsement the next. Out of the two articles I'd say the voter fraud accusation is the one people will remember most.

  6. Buchanan as a strawberry blonde is no more surprising than Renata Cooper as rock star gorgeous. There are some not so subtle photo shopping enhancements in addition to the curious choice of 3rd tier endorsees.

  9. This is outrageous. What Dr. Mann is doing, and has done is openly being discussed in History and Political Science classes at PCC. Students at the college are embarrassed that Dr. Mann is on the Board of Trustees, and that she is still in this race. Additionally, one PCC History Professor is saying that in all likely hood once again the District will have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in a new election, once Dr. Mann is arrested by either the D.A. or the FBI. This is wrong! I’m outraged! Why has the community not risen up and demanded that Dr. Mann resign! Voter apathy is the cause of this mess! The only courageous person to date has been the PCC student who stood up to Dr. Mann. Now I hear that Dr. Mann’s thugs have threatened her, and she is afraid to come onto campus!

  10. Dr. Mann is a fraud and should be ridden out of PCC on the back of a donkey. Afterwards, someone should apologize to the donkey!

  11. For Dr. Mann's middle aged children to still live with her shows what type of dependent degenerates she's spawned. She is a hack and a fraud and should be publicly excoriated at every Board Meeting. I wouldn’t be surprised if they talk about her in ethics classes at PCC. Perhaps she can be a guest lecturer. What an unhappy woman she has settled into being in her golden years. According to the PSN Dr. Mann seems to have tossed her son under the bus by telling them this whole mess is her sons doing. I would not be surprised if the Canadians to toss her son out of their country. With a mother like this, who needs enemies?

  12. Just Go VOTE for BRIAN FULLERNovember 4, 2011 at 7:52 AM

Just go to the polls and vote, if you don't have your voter slip, if you're registered it will be on the official voting polls sheets.
Just go vote....tomorrow Tuesday......if you don't know your polling place, call and find out. It's that important.

VOTE FOR BRIAN FULLER......the HONEST GUY

  13. Any endorsement from the likes of Puchanan is my cue to vote for the other side.

  14. There are a lot of honest people on this blog who would not suspect that the sole mission of a community college president and the board of trustees is to maintain an illusion of educational "excellence," while chasing grant dollars, not directly for themselves, but for their own illusion of personal power.

As the students' minds shrink, the buildings loom larger than ever.

  15. Why are these guys all smiling like that? It isn't natural. They need to cheer down.

  16. There are three polling places in Sierra Madre: The Congregational Church, Ascension Church and a private home at 741 E. Grandview. Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. No excuse to not vote for Fuller.

All of you, let's show by our vote that we do want ethical representatives in our education system. Voter fraud is not to be trifled with, Star News notwithstanding.

  17. Fuller will carry Sierra Madre. We aren't part of anyone's political machine.

  18. My husband and I will vote on Tuesday morning before work. We will be voting against Buchanan.

  20. I'm amazed that Mosca did not go for one last photo op.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Not surprising that Moran is backing Mann based on the circumstances that forced him to leave Flintridge Prep several years ago. No morals to be found between Mann and Moran.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 9:05
What? "Spanky" Moran immoral? No way! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mosca endorsed Selinske for the PUSD election and he almost lost Sierra Madre. Maybe Mann said no thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Buchanan's, Moran's and Joffe's endorsements of this candidate are the last nails in the coffin for me - I would not vote for Mann now if my life depended on it (and if all the rumors are true, one's life MIGHT depend on it; if the student in question cannot secure protection on campus from the malicious Mann and her minions, she should contact the DA's office and add harrassment, threats and impedence of access to education to the existing filed complaints against Mann). I also would never consider JB a "leader" in this community; sitting on council does not a leader make - integrity, vision and restraint of self interest do that, and JB possesses none of these admirable traits. Too bad Mann is not aware of the contempt in which this community holds the great gas bag Buchanan...she will surely lose votes because of his face on her mailer. Love the sense of entitlement that folks like Mann exhibit; it's OK, I just voted for my son for many years (but if her opponent were guilty of such voter fraud, the issue would be self-righteously relevant and the perpetrator painted in most hideous shades of unforgiving black). These cretins are soulless, I am convinced.

  25. Mann may very well have sent the ballot to her son in Canada and he voted and sent it back. However, if he is also registered in Canada, it is still fraud. (and she would know this).

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mann is obviously not all that bright. To put yourself into this kind of jeopardy over a couple of votes? Dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Could Mann's son have dual citizenship?

    ReplyDelete
  28. My question is about the endorsement process.
    How is it done?
A meet and greet and you look OK to me, or does it come from a party headquarters call, or you endorse me now and I'll endorse you then, or.......
Why would people who seem to value their reputations endorse someone without fully vetting them?

  29. Just vote for Brian FullerNovember 4, 2011 at 2:16 PM

    Lookie here, 1:31
You know that these crooked pol types are so corrupt that they would do anything, no matter what. Reason, they think they can.
In the past they could, but that was before the internet and citizen researchers and reporters bust these people.
Why do very wealthy people cheat and steal?
They don't need the money, it's the game of winning by cheating that they can't resist.
    It's sickening.
Vote against this Mann woman, she's obviously not fit for this job, or probably any other job.
Let's give Brian Fuller a chance at helping the college.

  30. I believe that you are supposed to vote where you live. Expats can vote here if they still claim their US address as home. But you can't just keep voting in every place you've ever lived as you trot about the globe. Even if your mom needs the vote.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with 10:46.
Whenever I see Buchanan I remember his dedication to ignoring residents and helping developers of the hillsides, and also, his picture on the No on Measure V propaganda.
    Swell "leader"

  32. Buchanan's eternal monument to poorly planned and destructive initiatives will be One Carter. Though the place was leveled down to mountain rock, not one has has ever been built there. It is toxic real estate at its worst.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Buchanan is just making the 'tough choices' even if they are 'not popular' because he feels his 'responsibility' to think for you - no matter what you say.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Buchanan's decisions are tough because they fly into the face of what everyone wants for this community. It's not that he knows what is better for us, it's that he knows what his employer and political patrons think is better for them. Which is profit at our expense.

  35. New CC Agenda is up on the City's site. UUT Tax, Council vacancy and Measure V/ALF are on the docket. Big old meeting. Three chances for the G4 to deny the people their right to vote. They must be salivating.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Measure V issue on the agenda is referred to as the Kensington Project. Elaine told me at the meeting at the Rec. Center that there couldn't be a vote until AFTER the project goes to the Planning Commission. I've been to all of the last Planning Commissions and I haven't heard the project presented there. What gives?

  37. Dr. Mann says she's a victim of rabid T-Partiers smearing her with vicious lies and innuendos. Just look at the mailer in your afternoon mail. I've got news for her! I'm not a T-Partier and I'm voting against her. She's not fit to represent my family or any other PCC student.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wouldn't you know. Another highly privileged person with years of receiving all that the taxpayers can provide claiming victimhood.

    Quaint.

  39. More postcard crap in mail from the Mann camp but a good response from Fulller about the Cadillac.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Somehow I think the Cadillac will resonate more than Mann's boo and hoo.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That's it. If I see Mann's face on anything else sent to my home, i'm going to call Dewey Pest Control! I wonder if I can get PCC to pay for it? If they bought a caddy for Perfumo I think they'll pay for this. Throw this BUM OUT. She represents the worst in a politician, and why we need term limits.

    ReplyDelete
  42. So I guess what Mann is saying is that you can't be a Democrat and oppose crooks in government. Here is one Democrat that says the crooks must go.

  43. Another PCC StudentNovember 5, 2011 at 5:44 PM

Gregory Smith of Sierra Madre commented on the PSN article of the fraud allegations against Dr. Mann:

"How could you print this invasion of privacy with the address of Dr. Mann? Grown children do as they please, we all know that. Mr. Fuller couldn't find any negative information about Dr. Mann's voting record at PCC, so he stooped to the depths to smear her in any way possible. Recently and coincidentally, a student reading a prepared statement, voiced her opinion about Dr. Mann when the Board of Trustees met in Sierra Madre. She tore into Dr. Mann with a tale filled with insider information and twisted lies. Her statement was also printed in the Sierra Madre Tattler. Interestingly, rebuttals to the students statement were never printed. As a long time employee of PCC it SHOULD be noted that Dr. Mann has always keep the best interests of students, staff and faculty in mind. For example, she voted against having six Vice Presidents at PCC. Dr. Mann's vote went against the wishes of PCC President Dr. Mark Rocha. We really didn't need the six VP's with more power and more money being spent on the administration. Does the city of Bell ring one for you? Dr. Mann votes for what is right. She votes to serve her district in the proper way with student and the college first! I have heard that Mr. Fuller and President Rocha are friends. Perhaps this is the REAL problem. We don't need a yes man, business man and a digger of dirt!!! We need an educator and Dr. Mann is a great choice!!!"

"P.S. To my knowledge Dr. Mann ran without opposition for all of her 20 plus years of service. Only one vote was really needed for her to be the victor. So, with that in mind, what is this article really trying to accomplish?"

It looks like Mr. Smith needs to do some more research and focus less on obfuscation. Dr. Mann's information is public; as is the rest of ours. It is called public record. And that "student" didn't speak lies like he is trying to portray. It is funny how Mr. Smith also WORKS at PCC. Speaking of a so-called "Yes Man".

  44. For the record, no rebuttals were submitted to this blog. The insinuation that they were, and that they were censored, is not the truth. The only rebuttal is yours, 5:44, and it was posted.

Thanks for playing. Next time tell the truth.

    Mr. Crawford,
I'm on your side Sir. Of course no rebuttals were submitted. Being a fair person, you have posted any and all rebuttals. My intent was so show the readers that people like Gregory Smith are quick to the defense and present no factual information for rebuttal. He is just sucking up for the sake of his job. Shameful how morals go out the door as soon as paychecks come in.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oops. Should have read more closely. Thanks for posting this. One of the standard lies about The Tattler is that we don't allow both sides of the story. Which is complete crap. I'd love it if someone like Smith would post, but they never do. Nobody has defended Mann on this blog. Nobody. The silence is profound.
