|Lady Elizabeth? Will you be visiting me?|
Here is how I described it all back then (click here):
Going into the 2012 Sierra Madre election there was a concerted, though laughably ineffective, attempt to take this blog out. It had become obvious to certain parties in town that a lot of people were starting to get their local news from the Sierra Madre Tattler. We certainly weren't reaching everyone of course, but it was being read by most of those in town who actually bother to vote. And what was being said here was certainly not helping push forward the campaigns of the candidates they were supporting last April. So they decided to go after us.
The initial vehicle was a blog called The Sierra Madre Tattler Tattler. Run by someone using the name of Lady Elizabeth Wistar, it attempted to cast this site as a hotbed of uncivil and highly politically incorrect behavior. With most of the attacks being aimed at my charming self. Unfortunately for Ms. Wistar, not many people were interested in reading a blog that did little more than run down another blog. And Ms. Wistar apparently wasn't up to the job, either. After 5 posts that dealt mostly with her burning obsession with me, she pretty much ran out of malarkey. Today the site sits somewhere out in there in the ether unread and forgotten.
However, that isn't where this story ends. Or why the FBI has come calling. If you follow this link to Elizabeth Wistar's Facebook site (click here), you will find the following message:
Rainbows and unicorns!
I heart John Buchanan, I heart Josh Moran, I heart Nancy Walsh, I heart MaryAnn MacGillivray. I heart Joe Mosca. And I REALLY heart Sierra Madre!
You can read my blog The Sierra Madre Tattler Tattler. It is a spoof of The Sierra Madre Tattler, which is written by John Crawford.
A cyberbullying report has been filed against John Crawford and can be viewed here:
For the record, the site that "Lady Elizabeth Wistar" is so excited about here has been pulled down by the FBI and can no longer be found on the web. Though they do have it on file.
As I described back then, the fellow who ran the "cyberbullying" site that "Lady Elizabeth Wistar" "reported" me to had some others as well, including illegalalienreport.com and stdcarriers.com. Places that unkind people like Lady Wistar would pay a fee to have persons they do not favor "reported" so that they can face public humiliation. It was a form of pay-to-play anonymous shielded slander that appeals to certain cruel and creepy individuals. Which is what the rainbow and unicorn loving "Lady Elizabeth Wistar" arranged for me. All in the name of spreading love and good cheer around Sierra Madre.
Things have now moved forward a little bit. The fellow who ran these sites has been arrested on extortion and various other charges, and is in prison in Oregon. He is being held on $1 million dollars bail. I have been identified as being both a victim and a witness in the case because this gentleman, Cyrus Andrew Sullivan (mug shot above), attempted to extort money from me in exchange for removing "Lady Wistar's" slanderous report. I didn't pay him a cent of course, but I did build up a considerable e-mail exchange with this guy, all of which I later gladly supplied to the FBI.
The sordid criminal affairs of Cyrus Andrew Sullivan, the extortionist our own "Lady Wistar" did a little dirty business with, has become a big story in Oregon. He even made some national cable news on one of Anderson Cooper's CNN news shows. Here is a report about all this on the website of KOIN-TV (click here):
The 28-year-old founder of STDCarriers.com is in Multnomah County jail, accused of a felony “computer crime,” two counts of felony coercion and identify theft. Cyrus Andrew Sullivan was booked into Multnomah County Jail Friday.
Sullivan's bail has been set at $1 million, up from $200,000 set Thursday for his arrest. He also is not being allowed to make any phone calls from jail, except to his lawyer.
Sullivan has been a focus of a segment on Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show Anderson, and has gained Internet notoriety for the website he founded in 2008 allowing users to report anyone as an STD carrier.
In an April 2011 report, that site raised concerns for at least one local attorney.
"In Oregon there's no liability for the publication of a private fact," Portland attorney Duane Bosworth told KOIN in its story about STDCarriers.com. That's even if the publication of that private fact was done to intentionally inflict emotional harm, Bosworth said.
In response to feedback such as this, Sullivan also launched a site called CyberBullyingReport.com: "Anti-Bullying and Internet Safety Services." It promoted a Portland-based website letting people "report cyber bullies online with anonymous publishing."
"CyberBullyingReport.com is ... built to empower victims of cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and online harassment to fight back against their tormentors safely and anonymously," the release reads, "while at the same time providing up to date news and resources for Internet safety."
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court, Sullivan is accused of threatening a person he believed was speaking out against him online in what Sullivan described as the "stalker site." Investigators said he threatened to post that persons "STD report" if the website was not removed.
Investigators said Sullivan went on to send an email to the victim, cc'd to a chief investigator for the Oregon Department of Justice which said, "Now I have no choice but to come to your house armed and put an end to you once and for all. The only way you can stop this is by removing your stalker site and paying me $10,000. You don't have a choice."
When the person did not pay investigators said he again threatened to kill that person. Portland police said the case is still under investigation and Sullivan could face additional charges.
Yesterday I requested from the FBI and the Department of Justice the identity of the person(s) who paid to place my name and picture on one of Sullivan's hate sites. Something that would for all intents and purposes remove the veil of secrecy from the bearded face of "Lady Elizabeth Wistar." They had me fill out some on-line forms and told me that this might happen, but if so it would take a little time. I, of course, can wait. I am a very patient fellow.
Once "Wistar's" identity is supplied to me by the Feds I will post it here along with some pertinent observations. I believe it would bring some closure to this affair, and therefore be the correct thing to do.
Breaking: Sandi Levin quits her City Attorney gig in Los Alamitos
I will be following up on this story later today, but at a City Council meeting in Los Alamitos last night our former City Attorney Sandi Levin, also the ruling doyenne of Colantuono and Levin, resigned her gig there. It has also been revealed to me that the newly elected City Council in Los Al is showing clear signs of dumping the entire Colantuono and Levin law firm as well.
There appears to be some kind of a trend happening.
I am expecting a report later this morning to show up on the excellent "Let's Fix Los Al" blog. As soon as it does I will update this report.
