Wistaria Festival Day Joe Mosca Movie Marathon!

Pucker up for the plant!
(Mod: If you are like me and choose to carefully avoid the streets today due to the vast hordes of other motivated out of town people anxiously seeking their transformative moment in time with the world's largest flowering plant, then you might be interested in watching some old movies to wile away your day of self-imposed exile. What we have for you at this a moment of greatest need is an article that originally ran in November of 2009 called "Joe Mosca's Top 10 Video Hits." Consider it our contribution to this very special day. Our hiatus coverage continues!)

Most people are aware by now of the high regard that we here at The Tattler have for Joe Mosca. Certainly his achievements alone speak volumes about what he has brought to this community. And thanks to the hard work of the fine folks at Neuroblast Films, we now have solid video portrayals of the man, his style, his values and the inspirational leadership he has provided for us all.

And as a service to the community of Sierra Madre, we are now presenting Joe Mosca's Top 10 Video Hits. A collection of each and every one of his most golden moments reviewed and ranked in the order of their importance to this town.

Come and join in the celebration as we take a trip down the Joe Mosca Pathways of Glory. One remarkable video at a time!

Video #10 - "Joe Mosca Supports Glenn Lambdin for Canyon Committee" (click here): Now if you were nominating somebody to a community planning committee dedicated to preserving a beloved and historic neighborhood, would you select an individual who has worked his entire adult life to turn it into Anaheim?

Video #9 - "Heather Allen Defends Sierra Madre With Eloquence" (click here): A favorite with many in the community, this video shows Councilman Mosca being vividly debased by a very angry resident. Special Achievement Award.

Video #8 - "Joe Mosca Again Pushing Pro-Development" (click here): Joe, who introduced himself to Sierra Madre as a slow growth advocate interested in preserving the community, has pushed more claptrap and bunkum in support of redevelopment than anyone previously serving on our City Council. Watch here as Joe attempts to describe something called "Low Impact Development Standards."

Video #7: "John Buchanan for Joe Mosca" (click here): City Council fellow John Buchanan struggles mightily to find a few good reasons why Joe Mosca should become the Mayor of Sierra Madre. And, failing in that, decides to talk about "tradition" instead. Count the number of times John uses the word "criteria."

Video #6 - "Joe Mosca Thanks SCAG" (click here): At the end of an evening when the stunned leadership of the regional planning organization called SCAG got their heads handed to them by the majority faction on Sierra Madre's City Council, not to mention the many citizens who showed up to express anger at their deceit and dishonesty, an apparently clueless Joe cheerfully thanks them for stopping by.

Video #5 - "Joe Mosca Needs A Break" (click here): At the conclusion of a City Council vote that allowed the citizens of Sierra Madre to view for the first time a long hidden portion of a secret controversial document that cost a quarter of a million dollars in their tax money to create, Joe Mosca pronounces himself to be "distraught over what just happened" and pleads for a time out. Freedom can do that to some people.

Video #4 - "Joe Mosca - That's Why They Voted For Me" (click here): Joe wakes up to the fact that the City Council has been deliberately ignoring "seven or eight" of his agenda items, and demands that they be considered, if only out of fairness. As far as we know, most still haven't been heard.

Video #3 - "Joe Mosca Flip Flop In 4 Minutes" (click here): In one four minute speech Joe Mosca manages to go back on just about every important promise on development he made to the voters of Sierra Madre when running for office. A remarkable achievement.

Video#2 - "Joe Mosca Our Local Deceiver" (click here): In perhaps the most famous of all his performances, Joe faces the consequences of his actions as citizens who helped elect him share their disappointment in a televised public forum. Known to many as the "get a life" video, he reacts with schoolyard taunts and belligerence.

Video #1: "Joe Mosca Is Reassigned" (click here): We chose this video as our favorite because it truly exposes the pathos of Joe Mosca in political despair. Removed from his position as Sierra Madre's liaison to the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments by the Mayor due to his near total lack of attendance, Joe asks, "Do you know how embarrassing this is?" The answer being yes, we do.

We here at the Sierra Madre Tattler would like to show respect to our friends Neuroblast Films for their work in making these videos possible. Thank you.

    1. We need coverage here on the blog about how the hiatus is going. Otherwise how would we know?

    2. Without the daily updates on the blog about the hiatus we wouldn't know how the hiatus was going.

    8. Yes. And he doesn't use capital letters. And sometimes he uses indelicate language. He isn't always civil. And all those things? They're why we love him and are so glad he's joined the Tattler.

  2. Mosca was the epitome of twit. Unctuous phony in public, vindictive hater in private.

  3. I know this is useful to remind people of how awful this guy was, but I now realize just how lucky we have been these past two years plus to be rid of him.

Didn't have to clidk here, once. I remember it too well. Stomach ache, indeed!

  4. Neuroblast...brilliant! But how is it that we still can't get the voters of Sierra Madre to see that they are repeating the same old stuff electing the likes of Moran and Harabidian?

    1. Why is a seat on the Board of Ed worth so much to these people?

    2. It's the power, 8:34. They make a pittance serving, but it's the connections and the business pay offs. For example, guess who does a lot of PUSD catering through Green Street Restaurant? Former Board of Ed Pres Bob Harrison.

  7. FYI Tattlers: PUSD Facilities Subcommittee meeting this Tuesday at 4:00. Fredo Thompson will be discussing the Sierra Madre timeline...not sure if he's reworked it?

    5. What are all those bathrooms for? Are we seeing the construction of businesses, as in residences for pregnant ladies to come and live in for the last 2 months of their pregnancies, so their children are born here? Or hotels?

    1. The real question is how are the Buc and Lucky Baldwin's doing? Walsh promised the City a fun filled day of drinking, eating, and vine viewing! After all it's the wide open border town of Sierra Madre far away from the LA Marathon and open to debauchery and Irish merriment!

  13. I guess I should count to a hundred…but I am very disappointed by what I saw at our Sierra Madre Wisteria “festival” on Sunday. I do not begin to understand all that is involved with managing this large city event. And I do not wish to be critical of those persons and organizations involved.
What bothers me was that our own city’s citizen groups, like the Historical Society, the Garden Club, CERT and Search & Rescue were placed as far away as possible from greatest exposure. There were a lot of open spaces. In the past years, I remember our volunteer citizen’s groups were near the square where people learned more and shared with volunteers. There was a sense of pride to volunteer and recruit our citizens. For me this horrible booth placement of our volunteer citizen groups is shameful and disrespectful of the work done by volunteers for our city.

    1. It reflects the way the city is going now. Fewer commissions, less resident involvement. More money for City Hall as they absorb all responsibilities. The sudden turn to consultants to finish the General Plan. The message? You are not needed.

  16. The festival seems to be perking along okay on the Blvd., but the attendance at the vine is way, way down. And 3:39 is right - the volunteers should have the most visible and accessible places.

  17. joe mosca is the most total dweeb I've ever met and I've met john buchanan and mosca tops buchanan.

mosca borrows a dog for his first campaign pic in sierra madre and from that day on he was nothing but a fraud

always has been a fake and always will be - so glad he is gone - wish buchanan had joined him in leaving the city though
