So Maybe This Guy Was A Noah Green Voter?

(Mod: There are some things that you should not do with your smart phone or computer. I think most people understand that, and would never attempt the sorts of unfortunate stuff detailed here. This was taken from the Los Angeles Register, and written by their Sierra Madre beat reporter, America Hernandez. You can view the article in its original setting by clicking here.)

Sierra Madre man was extorted through a dating app

SIERRA MADRE - A local resident who was encouraged to dance while undressed in an online chatroom, was then extorted for $750 when he was told the video would be sent to his phone contacts, Sierra Madre officials said Monday.

According to the report, the victim was directed by the phone application on August 5 to download a chat room onto his computer, where a naked Asian woman danced and encouraged him to join in.

Once he did, the woman disappeared and a message popped up on his screen informing him that he had been filmed.

To prevent the video from being sent to his mobile contacts, officials said the victim agreed to pay more than $750.

The victim then notified the site he had reported the incident to the FBI and Internet Crime Complaint Center, at which point the messages stopped and his money was collected in the Philippines.

The case has been forwarded to the Sierra Madre detectives bureau.

(Mod: I'm not quite sure what exactly Detective Amos is going to do about this situation. Hopefully it does not involve him taking his gun out of its holster.)

  5. Since when is nude dancing part of a "dating app"?
This guy was looking for and at porn. It's not really a surprise that he ran into some criminals.

The Sierra Madre Tattler research team does have their standards. We only go after politicians, former politicians and their handlers and/or minions.

    1. The only time The Tattler ever printed a naked picture was Noah, and that was because I thought it could change the results of that election. Which it did. Besides, I seriously doubt we will ever find out the identity of this dude. Which is probably a good thing.

    2. Maybe Noah got more votes due to the naked picture. He was a less than stellar candidate, i tell ya. Good at crying, though.

Letter emailed to city hall & staff 8/13/2014

    Elaine,

    1) I think you must be mixed up!
    2) July 22 & 24, 2014 - I did not request to look in your boxes as you have stated,
    3) I requested "you" to provide me with copies of city documents under the Public Records Act, which I agreed to pay for!
……… as of August 13, 2014 you failed to provide me with any water or sewer documents as requested - July 22 & 24, 2014,
    4) In the event you are to busy or think that I am not deserving those documents as a resident - and water & sewer paying customer of Sierra Madre since 1977,

I am requesting that you please prove me with the name, address, telephone number of the state governmental agency who over sees failure to provide such Public Records Requests!

    Best Regards,

    Earl Richey

    1. jeez and you wonder why city staff might be a little jaded?

that's the advantage of working in the real business world, you can respond to a request like this with "thank you for your letter. we are removing you as a customer. please go away"

    2. Mr. Rickey has the right to this info. In the private sector they would give you the things you asked for, not stall. There is something rotten in Denmark...er Sierra Madre and this is something that needs to be looked into. Where has all the money gone?

      Delete
    3. 3:10 - it is also the problem of living off the public largesse. Govt has to at least pretend that they care about the people who give them their money. A major inconvenience I know.

      Delete
    4. Mr Richey may have a right to the information, but he doesn't have to be so chippy and demanding - using exclamation points - sounds like a tantrum.

    5. People practicing their democratic rights can be so annoying.

    6. I disagree, 3:33 pm. In the private sector you'd be told to take a hike unless you presented a warrant (which means legal action pending). Elaine, by providing stacks of paper for review and copying, is meeting the reuirements. In a previous incarnation I filled many such requests. The law is specific about what doesn't have to be provided - Mr. Richey isn't known for being specific.
