Nancy Walsh On Tape: Is There Any Way Back From This?

You can link to this video by clicking here
I am not sure anyone has ever made this journey before. To go from being a city's Mayor to by far its most egregious and frankly cracked offender at public comment, and in just a relative few months, is a pretty remarkable trip.

I don't see this kind of thing ever happening to Pasadena's Bill Bogaard, or Monrovia's Mary Ann Lutz, or Arcadia's John Wuo. Yet here in Sierra Madre the person who was our Mayor up until last April has, for whatever reason, gone over to the dark side. So far over that you have to wonder if there really is any way back for her.

Is the dream over?
Nancy Walsh's frankly disturbing and profanity laced address to the City Council on Thursday evening was discussed here at length yesterday. Yet only a relative few actually saw her say any
of these things. We are posting this video today to correct that. It is a political train wreck that must be seen by all Sierra Madre residents.

To call her use of the phrase "uses the same steps as a child predator uses" to describe the actions of certain elected officials interested in governmental reform here in Sierra Madre inappropriate hardly does justice to what can be viewed in this video. That she should then go on to cite these officials by name, and in that very same ugly and disparaging context, is not the act of a reasonable person.

Many of the people I discussed this with yesterday believe that what she said Thursday evening represents actionable libel, and should two City Councilmembers decide to take former Mayor Walsh to Court over what she said in this video it could end up costing her dearly. So there is also that.

It also begs this question: Whatever happened to the Civility Party? Perhaps Nancy's fellow members, John Buchanan, Josh Moran and Joe Mosca, would want to share their views about this. Clearly her Thursday talk did not reflect well on those who supported and elected her to office in 2010.

And after all, this woman was actually elected to the City Council that year. People believed they were voting for her because she represented a kinder and gentler way of doing political business in this town.

Clearly that is now out the window. I think we need to hear from her supporters as well. So far they have been strangely silent.

  1. a friend of mine told me that terms like "Civility Party" when used by folks like Nancy Walsh, John Buchanan, Josh Moran, and the like, represent what is called "the Luciferian Inversion". This really means that whatever nice sounding term they give to something, it really means the opposite - the meaning is inverted, and intentionally so to deceive the general public into believing a falsehood. what a wise friend.

    1. That profanity-laced video says all you need to know about the "Civility Party". Nancy Walsh has no class whatsoever.

    2. If I knew absolutely nothing about what decisions were coming from the new City Council other than that something someone did elicited this kind of a tirade from Nancy Walsh, I would have to conclude that the City Council is on the right track and that they need to continue down the same course.

  2. Do you think Nancy had Paulie Houvesepian help her write this diatribe?

    1. I think she may have been encouraged in this direction by a number of Civilitarians, but that she then went 'rogue' a bit herself.

  3. All you posters yesterday who said that Nancy is just getting crazier got it right. She would come to the General Plan Update Steering Committee meetings, sit in the back playing with her I phone. Denise would ask her if she had anything to add, she'd say "Uh, no," and leave shortly afterward. She'd then report to City Council that the GP Committee was being poorly run, make up some nonsense like SHE recommended the meetings be televised and Denise had tried to block it. I wonder why she is so nutso and vindictive when it comes to smart women!

  4. She was an embarassment to the city for those who live here but you can see in the frame the invited speaker from the Pasadena Humane Society and the representative from the County witnessing this. You can only wonder what they are thinking. "Nancy Walsh on Grove" at least dosn't announce 'former Mayor' so we don't have to be embarassed that they know that about our city.

    2. Next time she tries to get up there, they will need to post two men in whites suites at the back to take her and put her in a padded room where she can't hurt herself. What does she have against the women any way. I think she even lashed out at Elaine. Its always sad to see a meltdown but to see it happen in public and before the camera for all to see is even worse. And to have it come from someone who not to long ago was actually the Mayor of our City. You can't make this stuff up.

    3. Denise and Rachelle and whoever else is voting with them, should watch that video of Nancy Walsh whenever they have any doubt as to whether they are on the right track in doing what's best for Sierra Madre. When people like Nancy Walsh become unhinged, you know you're doing somethig right.

    4. Keep up the great work on behalf of our City and the residents Denise and Rachelle. You two are a breath of fresh air in this town. Thanks for caring and thanks for being true representatives of the people. You are making Sierra Madre a better place and we love you for that.

    6. That's right. There is a certain crowd you are always going to anger when you start making reforms. The Buchanon, Mosca, Moran, Walsh type of people are in their death throes - Nancy Walsh's tirade last night was the last kicks and screams as they disappear into well-deserved obscurity.

      Delete
    7. She obviously has some anger management issues and sits there at home stewing about everything. If she doesn't let go and move on, she's going to have some health issues. I say that from that standpoint of not wanting to see anyone, even her, start to go downhill.

  5. Why would Mrs. Walsh have her hair died and nicely cut, her nails done and dress as nicely as she tries and then throw up all over herself with such ugliness of attitude. She is not aging well but that just proves a point I have made for years: aging does not turn you into something other what you were already. It just exaggerates it and some brain changes erase the self-control that worked when you were younger. I saw it in my mother but because she was a kind but overly critical (having come from a working-world of agressive criticism) woman. Since I cared about her I would tell her politely not to be so critical and she would put a damper on it. Does Nancy have no one to help her?

    1. I think Nancy needs d to seeek professional help. She gets up there kind of sweaty, hyperventalating, angry, using profanity, lashing out with ill-formed and disconnected thoughts. Its really rather pathetic. Another performance like that and she should be institutonalized.

      Delete
    2. That' exactly right 7:06. Aging only will accentuate your underlying negative characteristics that the person was able to somewhat hide when they were younger. In Nancy's case, those underlying characeristics would leak out every now and then like with the "I can take you out comment" that revealed her true colors. Now, the dam is bursting forth. She can't contain it any longer. She is simply not a nice person and really never has been. How she ever got elected to the City Council is beyond me.

      Delete
    3. I'd say she is becoming a little crochety in her old age. She needs to relax, release her anger and gracefully enjoy her retirement.

      Delete
    4. That would be her $ 100,000+ retirement paid for by U.S. taxpayers. I certainly wouldn't be angry is I was getting that deal!

    2. If I were any of the men on the City Council, I would quietly tell her to please support someone else. Politicians are often embarrased and tainted by their supporters. They need to distance themelves from Nancy as fast as they can.

    3. The mayor has a cut off button. Mosca used it. There is no excuse for Harabedian's inaction.

    4. With supporters like that for Goss and Harabedian, who needs enemies.

      Delete
    5. Harabedian is doing his best to be fair to speakers. An unintended consequence of cutting off Nancy would be for the council to start enforcing the 3 minute rule again. Let her talk, it is a show unto itself. She can't do any more damage to herself than she has already. Makes the council meeting a lot more interesting. By the way, where is Paulie anyway? I used to enjoy his silly ramblings too.

      Delete
    6. I think Goss and Harabedian want no part of her or her support. She makes them like a couple of babes in the woods, that meanies like Denise and Rachelle can just steamroll. I give Goss and Harabedian a little more credit than that when they cast their votes.

  8. Nancy Walsh accused two members of the City Council at the podium of being like a child predator. Did she happen to speak out about the real child predator that was an issue not too long ago. Someone who actually harmed childred. Just wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Its one thing to disagree wth the reforms put forth by Denise Delmar and Rachelle Arizmendi, but to liken them to child predators - the lowest scum on the planet - is a bit over the top to put it mildly. If Nancy Walsh disagrees with the reforms, she can get up there and point out how the reforms are off base, But to demonize the messengers and put them in the category of chiod predators is reprehensible. She needs to issue a public apology to those City Council Members and do it now.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Absolutely right 8:19
Nancy needs to apologize or be barred from public comment!

    2. When Nancy Walsh talks about this City Council being a case study for public administration classes or some such nonsense, she should learn to watch her mouth. To hear the former Mayor talking like a drunken sailor is embarssing for herself and embarssing for Sierra Madre.

      Delete
    3. Exactly 8:19. We've all had the experience of political disagreements and then sometimes losing, sometimes winning. It's one of the rules of engagement in political participation. For Walsh to turn it into a personal obsession is one of the marks of how nuts she really is.
      It's about ideas - it's not personal.

    4. 9:37, that was so weird! She actually fancies herself as important enough to be teaching "students in public administration and business administration." Well, they might study this, but not the way she thinks!

    5. She really needs to apologize for using a reprehensible analogy in comparing sitting City Council members to child predators. She crossed the line in that regard. But not only that, the way she did it makes people truly question her sanity. She lost it up there in a public forum.

  10. You can thank Mrs. Walsh for destroying the Tree Commission, too. She was the city liaison for the San Gabriel Valley Council of Government EENR (Energy, Environment and Natural Resources) but she seldom attended. She lifted this title and slammed it on the Tree Commission and Green Commttee (when they didn't have the courage to just turn the Green Committee into a Commisison and let it go at that). Now the SGVCOG is about to drop the EENR named group and call it something else, so I am told.

The Tree Commission was comprised of people who knew about trees, developed a replacement plan for the wind storm damage with funding from CalFire (some of the dead replacement trees you did see around town were due to the fact that the company putting them in had contracts with all the other cities--with more damage than ours--and we stretched too thin. Anyway, you get the idea. Nancy Walsh has a lasting demonizing affect of her four years in office and she just won't quit.

    3. Once again, Nancy Walsh teaches the lesson that you have to be careful about who goes on the City Council not the lesson that she says in her diatribe needs to be taught. Thankfully, she no longer has any influrence whatsoever in Sierra Madre.

  15. Some time ago John Buchanan was complicent in the vile and vicious things said by the Cumquat blogger (forget his name, now deceased) against Kurt Zimmerman and Fay Angus (were there other targets?) by not publically condeming the attacks but actually supporting them as personal expression. NO! They are personal attacks and deliberate attempts to destroy character and reputation. Our three men city council members need to see this for what it is. If they were so attacked with a so-called comparison to child predators they would be mortified.

    1. Comparing City Council members to Child Predators is beyond the pale. Nancy Walsh chose the most vicious and dispicable analogy she could fine and she ought to be ashamed of herserlf for doing so. She should be tarred and feathered and ridden out of Sierra Madre on a rail after a kick in her ample posterior.

    3. Jim was a big hero to the No On Measure V crowd. Or at least he was until Measure V won. Then they dumped him. He died a few months later alone. Drank himself to death. His body was not found until nearly a week after he died. You can really depend on the loyalty of the Civility Party.

  16. Nancy Walsh is also belittling Council Members Goss, Harabedian and Capoccia by insinuating that they are "victim" of these mean child predators like Council Members Delmar and Arizmendi. These are grown men. I'm sure they don't see themselves as little boys who were seduced by the lollypop that the girls held in front of them. As I recall, Mayor Harabedian thanked the ladies for their efforts on the reorganization plan. What the men ought to do is defend the ladies from the slanderous attacks from the likes of someone like Nancy Walsh.

    1. Don't be silly 11:19. Harabedian has let most people who go over time continue on, and has even let people come to the podium twice.
