Nobody Does Cray Cray Quite Like Former Sierra Madre Mayor Nancy Walsh Does Cray Cray

Cray & In The Way
We might have a very unique situation here. Sierra Madre could very well go down as the first city ever to have someone go from being its Mayor to the village Public Comment lunatic in the matter of just a few months. That would be a real journey into the wild if you think about, and I am not certain anyone has done it quite as quickly as our Nancy Walsh.

Naturally we are working very hard to download the video segment of Nancy's latest shocking episode so that you might be able to enjoy it here. Plus it did happen rather early in the meeting, so I do suspect a lot of people might have missed what could have been one of the most astonishingly weird Council Chambers performance in this town's storied history. Which, if you think about it, is really saying quite a lot. But we can be bold.

We also think that we might have a statewide winner here as well. There is a website called California City News.org that is somehow connected to the League of California Cities, but I won't hold it against them. And on that site they host this little section called the Gadfly Hall of Fame, which features videos of people speaking at public comment in City Halls all over America. Videos that are just so far over the top that they become something very special. You can check it all out here.

-
I am going to submit Nancy's latest video for inclusion. I really do think she gave a Hall of Fame performance, and deserves to join the likes of Zuma Dogg, Rob Ford and The Lady In The Red Beret as a true gadfly great.

So what exactly did Nancy Walsh say? Besides using the word (forgive me) "bullshit" three times? An outburst of profanity that I can't recall having heard the likes of in Council Chambers before last night. And certainly not what you'd expect from a Mayor first elected to office as a member of something called a Civility Party.

Here is how a commenter last night described Nancy's three minutes of cray:

I think Nancy Walsh has lost her mind. And what is with the potty mouth? Was Walsh really comparing Delmar to a child molester? Was Walsh also dissing her BFF, the City Manager? Did the water dept really declare BK in June? Even after the water rate increases? (18% and 19% in the last six months?). What is in this "secret" document?

Like I said, I hope to have the video up in a couple of days. But if I was one of the City Councilmembers that Nancy Walsh compared to a "child molester" last night, I'd be dialing up my lawyer right about now.

Kudos to the City Council

A big salute to the CC for not giving the so-called "Consideration of a Property Sale Inspection Program" item the time of day. And another big salute to all of those who came out to speak against it. It really is pretty gratifying that so many people are showing up at City Council meetings these days to challenge whatever outrages are being foisted on this community.

Here is the one remaining question on this one. How did this thing actually get on a City Council agenda? Who put it there? Last night nobody was saying.

The General Plan was also attended to with great skill and aplomb. But this thing really does need to be fast-tracked in the most urgent way possible. The stakes are much too high, and we can ill-afford to leave this project unfinished for too much longer.

Sometimes you have to feel sorry for City Councilmembers

So after having worked into the late evening hours fending off crazy former Mayors and equally batty agenda items, this morning they have to be over at the YAC at 8:30am to answer ridiculous questions such as these:

You really have to wonder how they manage to hold up as well as they do.

    2. She is obsessed with councilwoman Delmar. It is most peculiar.

  2. Is the rumor true? I hear Mayor John Harabedian is instituting a new 1 minute speaking time limit for former Sierra Madre Mayors.

    1. The rumor I've heard is that Harabedian is livid over what Nancy did last night. Stay tuned. She might very well have made herself a city hall persona non grata.

  3. When wacky Walsh was done speaking you could have heard a pin drop. Well, there was the open mouths gasping for air in utter disbelief sound a few seconds later. She is the scary town clown. We know how she became elected to council, lets not let that happen again. Looks like we have a good council who are for the most part pretty leveled headed about their decision making, I think they are going to be good for the town for once.

  5. I watched Ms. Walsh in person, last night. What an absolute fool. I got lost on her pedophile angle. Her lack of respect was appalling. . I know she said she was still mad, which I agree with, the frothing at the mouth kind of mad. Maybe she could be the first tenant at the assisted living haven.

  6. Walsh was acting out before this - it's just getting more obvious and intense. The whole time she was on the council I thought something wasn't right. She always was so disconnected and reacting inappropriately.

  7. I am not really sure what her point was. Was it about making Sierra Madre an environmentally sustainable community, especially regarding water?

    1. If she hasn't maybe she should take up drinking. It might make her less vindictive. Remember the "We put you in and we can take you out" speech she gave as mayor about General Plan Chairperson Delmar, and members Brauderick and Sheridan? Also, how she would tell anyone who'd listen that Councilmember MacGillivray talked too much?

  15. She's become unhinged. I dare say someone should make sure she's taking her medication. What's more unbelievable than her preformance last night, is the fact that she was actually the Mayor of our city. She's the best example of why we need to vett candidates very carefully in the future. Maybe they should have to take some kind of psychological exam to make sure they are mentally competent to run for City Council.

    1. Equally Important: vett the vetters! Just look at the former mayors and councilmembers who jumped on the Walsh bandwagon.

    2. Anyone who runs for City Council is by definition not in his/her right mind! Look at what happens during the process (Crawford accused of going through people's garbage), or if you actually win (Delmar and Arazmendi are child molesters?)

  16. Mod, as always the picture you chose is beautifully appropriate. However, I think you can get plenty of screen shots of Walsh that would do just as well, if not better.

    2. You're right, 10:22 am! It's all too clear... first the Return of the Pod People prank, then the utterly demented former mayors spewing noxious green juice, and finally, the pupae hatch and we have the likes of Wacko Walsh (former known as Dancin' Nancy). Sierra Madre has been infested; it's just a matter of time until the takeover.

    3. I find it cruel that the Civility Party cares so little for the foot soldiers it recruits.
Walsh has obviously been unwell from the beginning, but that didn't stop them from hustling her into the political arena. I think John Buchanan had a lot of schmoozing of Nancy as one of his assignments.

    4. lol Buchanan trying to teach Nancy - no wonder she went cray cray trying to mimic his delivery and "teaching" us at every moment but delivering not much

    3. How on earth did this intrusive Home Inspection Plan ever get as far as being agendized ? Are there Council and staff who are so out of touch that they thought this truly represented the will of the electorate? Or were they just trying yet another shakedown of homeowners?
Long before I would support a Home Inspection Plan, I would want an Honesty and Integrity Plan for Council and Staff. That 'research' would benefit the town much more than being forced to have a City snoop poking through my home.
Having lived and worked in Communist East Europe ,this Home Inspection Plan seems exactly like the air-brushed but Socialist authoritarianism I yearned to escape from many years ago. Be careful Sierra Madre, this is how it starts...............

    4. The Mayor is the one person with final say on the agenda. I daresay Johnny wanted it on there.

    5. Mayor Johnny can read the way the wind is blowing with the best of them. he saw that there was no support for this on the council and that the citizens didn't want it either. so, being politically astute (which is 180 degrees from having solid principles), he voted not to approve this. trust me, if the council had been leaning in the other direction, he would have wholeheartedly supported it.

    6. Johnny is a little sailboat. He goes what ever way the wind blows.

    7. If I understand correctly, it's the mayor and the city manager who set the agendas.

    8. Remember, Harabedian has political ambitions. In his party that means pleasing the unions and, of course, that takes money. Lots of it. We will see more of these.

      Delete
    9. Mayor Harabedian could get a one step ahead of his current 'candle-in-the-wind' situation if he floated his Plans on Tattler before sliding them on the agenda for the Council. Woe betide him if he sneaks something like the Home Inspection Plan through ! We can do another recall and end his mayorship and political ambitions in a hurry.
It isn't difficult Harabedian, just represent the electorate of Sierra Madre honestly .Of course you can float your own ideas - but do so in a straightforward way. We are watching you like hawks!

  19. You can write Elaine or mr. Harabedian to find out who ageendized this item. On another note, Nancy Walsh should not represent the city in any way. Tell the chamber of commerce that she I'd not a good rep for the city or them: shader c@gmail.com.

    1. Our Chamber of Commerce is a very eccentric mix of people. The criteria for working there doesn;t seem to have much to do with special knowledge about small city business, but rather whether you have nothing else better to do.

waste of time with those type of questions and the likes of Nancy Cray Cray has participated in previous strategic planning meetings with her cray cray vision which was limited to getting of the bathroom at Memorial Park and turning into storage for the old folks hall.
