One More Larry Torres Scandal? Possible Undeclared Family Business With Pasadena Unified Connections - Plus Tonight's City Council Meeting

It would seem that Larry Torres is married to a woman named Carole D. Tremblay (link). For whatever reason she has chosen to keep her maiden name. Her business is located on Grove Street in Sierra Madre, and is listed this way on the AMFIBI Business Directory (link). Other business directories also list her business this way. Go to Google and knock yourself out.

What follows is Carole Tremblay's bio on the Public Health Foundations Enterprise webpage (link). The sentence you are going to want to note is this: "Since moving to Los Angeles in 1990, Ms. Tremblay has led development for various nonprofit organizations, including, most recently, as Chief Development Officer for Pacific Clinics, the largest nonprofit mental health organization in Southern California."

Next in view is a screen shot from the Focus Point Academy website (link). The sentence you are going to want to pay attention to here reads, "The Focus Point Academy is a cooperative effort staffed and funded by the Pasadena Unified School District, the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, and Pacific Clinics."

Carole D. Tremblay is a principal player in an enterprise that does does business with the Pasadena Unified School District. A bit of a cozy relationship at this point, but not any crime. Where this does become a problem legally is that this had to be declared by law when Carole's happening hubby, Larry Torres, announced that he was running for a seat on the Pasadena Unified School District's Board of Education. This needed to be done on something the State of California FPPC calls Form 700. As you can see below, no such connection to Pacific Clinics is mentioned. Even though it puts money into the pockets of Loose Larry and his family.

Anybody detecting a pattern of behavior here? Larry Torres hid his DUI conviction, is he now also attempting to hide a family business relationship with the Pasadena Unified School District? Which, given his candidacy, would be illegal.

You can't vote for a misfit character like this. How are you going to be able to trust him if he gets elected? Please cast your vote for Sandra Siraganian. Torres is too damn sleazy to serve our children.

Tonight's City Council Meeting

If you are into art in public places, or testimony from the Chiefs about the efficacy of their respective public safety operations, then tonight will be your sweet and mighty joy. Otherwise it could be a fast track to your personal dreamland.

However, there are two sources of authentic excitement. The first one is the demolition permit abeyance, which is described on the City Council Meeting Agenda this way:

This is a Public Hearing, and it is Item #2 on the Agenda. I'd get there early. I am sure there will be some friends and neighbors speaking.

The other item that merits your close attention is one you will not be allowed to witness personally. But you can certainly imagine what will be going on behind the veil with this one.

Why yes, it is The Tattler's girlfriend, Julie Tschida "Shame on You!Brown (link), the fabulous lady from the big engineering firm who wants to raze the historic and beloved Henry A. Darling home and replace it with a particularly unappealing McMansion (link). This while also pulling off a big fat lot split to pay for the atrocity.

So in addition to all of that, Julie now wants to sue Sierra Madre as well? What a blessing to this community she has been.

See you at the meeting tonight. It is not often that you'll get the results from a barnburner of a BOE election and a City Council meeting at the same time. Too much fun for most.

I'll be there, though. You should go, too.

  5. Would have sure been helpful if the Tattler had come up with this info in time to really help Sandy. I will be voting for her but now there is no time to get further word out where it will do some good. Anyway, still some good work done by the Tattler and crew, thanks.

    2. What will the FPPC fine be for this? Or will Larry be back in jail?

    2. Not to get too melodramtic about this, but we are talking about a possible organized crime takeover of the PUSD.

  9. The whole connection by the Torres family stinks. As usual its hidden and hard to cnnect the dots but thankfully the Tattler has done so. Hopefully its in time to do some good. So this guy Torres will be negotiating unions contracts which we all know by now benefits the teacher's union at the expense of the kids and he will be spending public taxpayer money on things that will benefit his wife's company. No wonder Larry Torres hid that connection and no wonder his wife doesn't use his last name. And this is the guy, some people may vote for to improve the public schools? And this is the guy Mayor Haradbedian is supporting?

    2. Because Larry is so educated and qualified, and he is always thinking of the kids, I'm sure he just made a mistake by not declaring his wife's connection. (tongue in cheek for all of you who don't have a sense of humor).

I have to say truthfully that his mother is very sweet and honest so I wouldn't throw her into the mix of "Larry's Family".

  10. Thanks for the reminder and the videos of Judith Brown lecturing the City Council and the audience about being good neighbors as they tear down an historical house and shout "Shame on You". And now, just like the One Carter owner, The Brown family is suing the City of Sierra Madre and by definition everyone resident in it. Not quite the best way to be embraced by the community you profess to love so much. I think that video and this action shows their true colors. It would be quite fitting if they have retained the One Carter lawyer Richard McDonald as their attorney.

    1. As with One Carter, the City Council should not be influenced by the threat of litigation. And as with One Cartr, we always know that it must be a really bad project, if the owner has to sue to get it approved.

    2. City Council should stand up to her threat. The vast majority of residents would back them up on this.

    5. The Star-News doesn't even care. recall a few years back when Jeannette Mann was running for re-election to the PCC Board and it was brought out that she had a son who had been living in Canada for several years, yet he continued to vote in Pasadena local elections, clearly a violation of the law. the Star-News endorsed her anyway, but did note that she should take care of this "voting problem".

  12. Does anyone know for sure whether that architect Vanderveldt and general contractor Glen Lambdin are the Brown's architect and general contractor for this demolition project. If they are, what a conflict of interest. And tthen for them to try to tell evryone how we shouldn't have any historical preservation and how the existing rules are sufficient to protect us from Arcadia-like McMansions. People like Lamdin and Vanderveldt profit the more Sierra Madre becomes a developers' free-for-all. Think about that every time they get up to speak if favor of loosening the rules for development. I hope the City Council sees through it as well.

  13. It's long known that the primary way the PUSD pays off certain politically active locals is through "mental health services". This is one of the reasons the PUSD Board (including Larry's supporters) banned suspensions. Because by keeping the troublemakers in school they increase the demand for mental health services not only for the troublemakers but for all the other children they torment.

It's done through wives using their maiden names. For instance, Peter Dreier's wife uses the name "Catherine Meng". Meng (Dreier) is a Nurse Practitioner and a former employee of the PUSD.

    http://pusd.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=12&clip_id=221&meta_id=41162

What do you want to bet that PUSD students make up a percentage of Dreier's wife's "patients".

    ReplyDelete
  14. Peter Dreier's wife Catherine Meng is a pediatric nurse associated with AMG Medical Group in Pasadena. So she makes money "serving" PUSD students. And In a community property state that means Peter Dreier makes money "serving" PUSD students. And the sicker and more troubled the students are the more money Peter Dreier makes.

    1. Misery makes money. Now there is a "community schools" concept.

    2. It's always about the money. (Sorry kids, it's not about the kids, no matter what Larry Torres says.)

      Delete
  15. So in November 2014, Torres' wife becomes an executive in a business that makes money from a connection to PUSD.

Less than a month later, Torres files to run for PUSD school board and doesn't disclose his community property interest in his wife's income as he was required to do under state law. Torres should be recalled if he wins.
