COLIN POWELL: Donald Trump 'has no sense of shame'

(Mod: Everything went pretty well at last night's City Council meeting. The Planning Commission's R1 amendments were approved unanimously, which is a happy thing. So instead I thought I would post the following from Business Insider. Link to this directly by clicking here.)

COLIN POWELL: Donald Trump 'has no sense of shame' - Former secretary of state Colin Powell is no fan of Donald Trump.

In a slew of emails obtained by BuzzFeed News, Powell tore into the Republican presidential candidate referring to him as an “international pariah” and a “national disgrace.”

In one email, Powell denounced Trump for perpetuating the “racist” birther movement that questioned President Barack Obama’s US citizenship.

“Yup, the whole birther movement was racist,” Powell wrote, according to the BuzzFeed News report. “That’s what the 99% believe. When Trump couldn't keep that up he said he also wanted to see if the certificate noted that he was a Muslim.”

In another exchange, Powell went off on media — echoing the position of other lawmakers who believe the press helped fuel Trump’s rise.

“You guys are playing his game, you are his oxygen," he said. "[Trump] outraged us again today with his comments on Paris no-go for police districts. I will watch and pick the timing, not respond to the latest outrage …”

The real-estate mogul's controversial White House run has been unlike any other in modern history. Many of the campaign's highs and lows have been covered from every angle — much to the chagrin of the GOP nominee himself — who often rails against the coverage while simultaneously generating new headlines.

When Trump publicized South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham's personal phone number in July, Powell reacted saying, "Trump has no sense of shame."

The retired four-star general said he was strategic about publicly criticizing the brash billionaire in order no to entice him.

“To go on and call him an idiot just emboldens him,” Powell wrote.

Trump says 50% of Americans are "lazy?"

Mod: The endless whining from certain quarters over Clinton's "50% Deplorables" statement has been heard ad nauseum these last few days. But all that is out the window as Trump has now said something strikingly similar himself.

  1. I agree with Trump at least 50% or more of Americans ARE lazy. Most generational welfare recipients and the majority of government are lazy. The probably account for half the population

    1. Half the US population is on welfare? Seems your math is pretty deplorable.

    2. Generational trust-fund recipients are even lazier

  2. Silly season on the Tattler continues. The "gaffe" consists of separate clips spliced, without context, and devoid of the word "lazy." Statement one is true. There are people who don't want to work. Statement two refers to the fact that only 50% of American families pay income taxes. Also true.

What is undisptably true is that Madamme Hillary surroubded by the wealthiest "friends" she had and drunk on a night of Streisand tunes decided to label 25% Of American voters racists, homophobes, etc, etc, etc. s
    Wonderful.

You should go back publishing Russian conspiracy theories.

    2. So when Hillary bashes 50% of the American people it is bad, but when Trump does it it's OK? Marvelous hypocrisy. Go catch a plane to Moscow, comrade.

Nope. It's not about Trump. He'll be fine win or lose.

It's about the forgotten Americans who are being wiped out by globalism and its destruction of middle class opportunity. Trump and Bernie get it. That frail lady who wears herself out trading influence for money doesn't. And the wealthy donors who laughed while she labeled hurting Americans deplorable losers don't get it either.

    4. So the NY real estate prince who inherited his money calling 50% of the American people "lazy do-nothings" is not name calling? What do they put in your tea?

      Delete
    5. See 6:12. Making up stuff is no more persuasive than name calling. Or pretending the super evil Russians are behind his campaign.

The funny thing is, the super rich guy loves the working people more than the super rich woman who sold her soul for power

    6. So you are saying the Colin Powell stuff is made up? Trump calling 50% of the American people "lazy do-nothings" is his way of showing love? Really?

    7. According to Newsweek this morning a huge amount of Trump's holdings are overseas and not in America. Which makes 6:55's claim about Trump being the foe of "globalism" kinda goofy.

  5. Finally, the polls have been trending for a reason.

Over the last three weeks Trump has given at least five policy speeches on everything from foreign affairs to child care. Not to donors. To regular people. Madame Hillary has been hanging with Hollywood moguls and investment bankers, delighting them with shouts of racism, sexism, etc. and, in a display of wonderful candor, tossing 25% of American voters into a basket of Deplorables.

I'll take the flawed, vigorous, old guy with a heart who wants to fix things over the flawed, frail, old gal without a soul who wants power and to preserve the status quo. Any day.

    1. Again, Trump saying that 50% of Americans are "lazy do-nothings" is hardly love for the working man. Rather it is colossal hypocrisy. In some ways Trump is no different than the David Dukes of this world who are supporting him.

Moderator, please restore the tasteless use of Spanish slang cuss words by that Hillary supporter. It reveals the character of the name callers/Hillary supporters who say such deplorable things.

PS: We need more stories about how Trump is a secret booby trap politician working for his boss in the Kremlin! Please.

    10. Dear Mr. Spanish Slang Scholar, if you change the "o" to an "a" would that term apply to a woman who sells herself to Goldman Sachs investment bankers, foreign dictators, and anyone else with a checkbook and a cause to press with the Government?

      Delete
    11. You mean like Trump and his Russian pals?

      Delete
    12. Yeah, I agree. I am troubled that Donald is cozying up to the Russians like a normal diplomat. He should be calling them "pinko commies," political hacks, and dangerous psychos.

More importantly, with all this cozying up I am terrified that Trump might "reset" our relationship with the Russkies by doing something crazy. Like encouraging them to take half the Ukraine or letting them establish a military presence in Syria. Which they might use to wipe out the opposition groups Trump might back and abandon. And once those poor saps who relied on us for support are wiped out Trupm might agree with the Russians to a cease fire that would keep Assad in place.

That would be bad stuff. We can't risk it.

    13. Goldman Sachs is an American company. Why is it preferable for a politician to sell himself to foreign governments, 10:49?

    14. According to that Newsweek article Trump has taken a lot of money from foreign governments to keep his shaky empire alive. Puts him into a compromising position to say the least.

    instance!
When approached to run for the Presidency; I respect Powell for not wanting to drag his wife and her diagnosis of Mental illness through the mire of Green Belt Politics; altho it would have shed some light in this area of brain injury. Beyond this, Powell needs to take a look at his own actions and servivethe in Government.

  17. Manchester Union Leader - New Hampshire's leading newspaper, endorsed Gary Johnson today. Here is what the paper had to say about Trump.

"After assailing Mr. Trump on a regular basis leading up to the state’s primary, the venerable Union Leader, a conservative bulwark for generations, is now going a step further: For the first time in over 100 years, New Hampshire’s largest newspaper will not be endorsing the Republican nominee for president.

“The man is a liar, a bully, a buffoon,” wrote Joseph W. McQuaid, the Union Leader publisher, of Mr. Trump in a signed editorial. “He denigrates any individual or group that displeases him. He has dishonored military veterans and their families, made fun of the physically frail, and changed political views almost as often as he has changed wives.”

  18. Lazy? How about the whiney middle and former middle class white males who form Trump's base and who are too lazy to reeducate themselves now that Trump and his ilk have shipped their industries and jobs overseas?

If they had only paid attention in 9th grade English, they might see the irony of supporting business "leaders" who put them exactly where they are and profit overseas at their expense.
