Raw Story: Big trouble for Trump as voter turnout ‘explodes’ among blacks and Hispanics

A Trump guy
Mod: The big news this evening will be about how unhappy  African American and Hispanic voters carried the day for a victorious president-elect Hillary Clinton. Counterproductive campaign attacks upon minority voters by Donald Trump will come back to haunt the GOP as millions of the recipients of his reactionary abuse headed for the polls. Here is how the political website Raw Story lays this theme out for us.

Big trouble for Trump as voter turnout ‘explodes’ among blacks and Hispanics - Voter turnout among African American and Hispanic voters in the United States is surging, and this swell of minority participation could spell trouble for Donald Trump’s White House hopes.

On Sunday — the last day of early voting before Election Day on November 8 — hundreds of people attended “Souls to the Polls” events, aimed at encouraging churchgoers to vote across the key swing state of Florida.

Some came straight from morning worship, wearing three-piece suits and dresses as they made their way past dozens of campaigners hoisting signs for local candidates and urging support for solar energy and education issues.

At one event in central Miami, people held hands and prayed outside an early voting site, while at another in southern Miami-Dade County, about 20 African American men rolled in together on motorcycles.

For some, the vote they cast was as much for Democrat Hillary Clinton as it was against her Republican billionaire challenger.

“I’m scared if Trump wins,” said Ines Curbelo, 57, a nurse who described herself as Afro-Cuban and was handing out Democratic flyers at a polling place Cutler Bay, south of Miami.

As speakers blared gospel and R&B music, a line formed near a smoky barbecue pit and several young boys jousted with inflatable swords on the grassy lawn behind her.

“He would set back politics and set back race relations and set back women’s fight for equality in the workplace — everything is going to get set so far back,” Curbelo said.

100% increase in Hispanic voters
Hispanics make up a powerful voting bloc in the battleground state of Florida, and are widely expected to lean toward Clinton, particularly since Trump has described Mexicans as rapists, repeatedly vowed to build a border wall and promised to deport masses of illegal immigrants.

As of Saturday, 565,000 Hispanics have voted in person in Florida, a 100 percent increase over the close of early voting in 2012, according to Daniel Smith, a University of Florida professor who tracks voter turnout.

In another sign of voter enthusiasm, of the 911,000 Hispanics who have already voted this year — whether in person or by mail — 36 percent did not vote in the last presidential election.

And by the way ...
Mod: If you somehow believe that after today's election things will "return to normal" on this blog and that I will overlook the support you gave to the sort of thing seen below, you're wrong. This was a deal breaker. You are no longer welcome here.

    1. I'd like the Moderator or any of the other Hillary supporters to answer one question for me. Let's take Hillary at her word that she and Bill were "flat broke" when they left the White House in 2000. How did two "public servants" amass a fortune that some estimate is about 250 million dollars since that time? Now I know how Hugo Chavez's daughter became the wealthiest person in Venezuela, but help me understand how the Clintons did it. I await your answer.

    8. 6:18 dislikes people like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, who came from nothing and worked hard to reach the pinnacle. He hates how Bill and Barack, despite their humble roots, now have the ability to make large sums of money speaking and writing. They came from nothing and he considers them elites.

6:18 prefers to worship silver-spoon trust funds babies, who he seems to believe are self-made--no doubt just like him--even though the Trumps, Romneys, and Bushes of the world actually made their fortunes, not through hard work, but by swimming up the right (or was it the left?) fallopian tube.

    9. Sorry folks. Nothing wrong with making money. But it's how you make the money. Doing speeches is fine too but getting paid for a speech and then approving the sale of 20 percent of the United States's supply of uranium to the Russians is high treason. If you think all those companies and individuals who paid a fortune for a speech or contributed millions to the Clinton Foundation expected nothing in return and received nothing in return then I gave some swamp land I can sell you. Never underestimate the stupidly of the average voter. The Clintons have counted in that for years.

  2. You conveniently overlook the corruption of the Clintons. Those tentacles spread to the Justice Dept and FBI. I get you hate Trump. But it should be a little tough to bring back the Clintons and Podesta, Blumenthal et al. Trump is an imperfect vehicle to stop the Left from destroying America. Vote for Trump and send the celebrities, media and elites from both parties packing and Make America Great Again!

Trump was very much a part of the left you are so upset about. Even posed his wife nude in magazines. And let me tell you, America is much more interested in Hollywood celebrities than they are Donald's gun monkey pal Ted Nugent. The alt right is where the losers gather. Have a nice 4 years.

  3. I'm that person. I support Trump. 20 years ago legendary columnist William Safire called Hillary Clinton a congenital liar. That was before Benghazi, before the private server scandal, and before the Clinton Foundation pay to play. For the Clintons and the Left its all about power and money. I can't morally support people like the Clintons who are without morals. God help us when they control the levers of power once again. If you think the IRS scandal was bad you ain't seen nothing yet.

"A blog (short for weblog) is a personal online journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs are defined by their format: a series of entries posted to a single page in reverse-chronological order.Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or reflect the purpose of the Web site that hosts the blog. Topics sometimes include brief philosophical musings, commentary on Internet and other social issues, and links to other sites the author favors, especially those that support a point being made on a post."

  11. Both candidates have a lot of negatives and spent way too much time bashing each other instead of detailing their plans on the issues. While he might be overzealous on the immigration problem, she wants to keep them coming. We cannot feed, house, clothe and give medical care & jobs to our own citizens. With the number of unemployed Americans, and worse, unemployed, homeless VETERANS, we have no business laying out the welcome mat for anyone else right now. Immigration must be properly addressed and we must stop the hemorrhaging of immigrants freely flowing in (both legal AND illegal) until we get a handle on who is here now, and assessing and addressing the needs of our veterans, seniors, children and individuals & families suffering as working poor or unemployed without hope.

I don't care what the lying pantsuit or the offensive orange say about each other. I don't care that Beyonce likes one and Ted Nugent supports the other. I care that my loved ones can find jobs they're qualified for that pay enough to support themselves, that veterans are given preference in social service situations over the "undocumented", and that illegal immigrants are never again handed a voter registration form with their drivers licence application or their welfare renewal forms.

A woman president would be historic and groundbreaking. Just not her. A reality showboater is not someone to be proud of either, but at least its not another political insider extraordinaire slipping off the FBI's hook once again.

America does need to be made great again, or at least stop failing. I've seen job applicants with "text speak" abbreviations on their resumes and people complaining of discrimination because there are no gender neutral restrooms in a medical office. Pathetic. The dumbing down has got to stop as Idiocracy has become real in so many areas. Our choices in candidates are not ideal, but it's not like anyone else had a real chance.

Actually if you listened to Bernie and Hilary's debates they were full of real dialogue and platform issues.

Hillary is not perfect but her resume is more solid than any candidate I can think of.
