Intelligence officials fear China's global 'kidnapping' program has reached America

Mod: I was sent the following by a real estate friend who has a client that was induced to return to China for some reason and was arrested at the airport. The apparent crime was taking money out of the country. That person remains in prison there today.

Intelligence officials fear China's global 'kidnapping' program has reached America (The Week link): Some U.S. intelligence officials fear that the Chinese government is conducting sophisticated "kidnapping" programs in the United States in order to spirit their nationals back to the mainland, where they face arrest and imprisonment on political and corruption charges.

Beijing has openly admitted to repatriating more than 3,000 people "who had escaped overseas" since late 2012, Xinhua reports, although the U.S. intelligence community believes China's strategies in Western nations often involves pushing the definitions of coercion and kidnapping.

In one example cited in the report by Foreign Policy, a Chinese-Canadian billionaire was snatched from his hotel in Hong Kong in 2017 and was loaded — likely sedated — into a wheelchair and rolled out through the lobby with a sheet covering his head. Similar stories have also come out of Australia, a U.S. intelligence partner, including one about a man who was allegedly drugged by Chinese security forces and transported back to the mainland on a state-owned shipping vessel.

Chinese nationals living in the United States have also begun to disappear under suspicious circumstances, although unlike previous targets, "they were not high-profile folks," said one former U.S. intelligence official.

"There were multiple reports of people observing Chinese intelligence operatives materializing around the schools or residences of the missing people," the intelligence official went on. "One theory was that they were strong-arming them in person, saying, 'We're here. Your flight back to China is tomorrow.'"

The official stressed that there is still a difference between "kicking in a door and taking a guy forcefully away and saying, 'Come with us or we'll kill your family in Inner Mongolia.'" Still, in one case involving a Chinese graduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, there was "evidence of this person being taken against their will."

The fear is that just because China has not brazenly kidnapped anyone in the United States yet, it "doesn't mean they won't eventually."

Mod: Here is additional coverage from the magazine Foreign Policy.

  1. China now poses the biggest threat to the United States as well as some of their own people. We created this monster. It wasn't that many years ago that China was a third world nation but had billions of people. Companies shifted their manufacturing base to China to increase profits and now we have a country that is increasingly asserting its new-found power and wealth. Remember when our political class told us that by trading with China they wound liberalize and democratize. That not only hasn't happened they have actually become more repressive and are using technology to further tighten the Communist Party's control over its citizens. We created this Frankenstein and now we have to deal with it. Our one advantage was always innovation. But what the Chinese can't buy or get companies to joint venture with them to access their markets, they simply steal. If we don't stop this, we will soon become a colony of China.

    1. No doubt a Trump troll trying to distract from the biggest problem--Russia and pr*sident Dennison's collusion with and cooption by Russia.

You blame the "political class" for wanting to trade with China, but it was actually the wealthy American "business class" that wanted China's cheap labor and cost of doing business, along with the wealthy "financial class" hungry for more quick profits, that through their campaign contributions installed the "political class" to open up trading with China.

And by the way, China doesn't have billionS of people.

All conversations, location, shopping records, phone book address all turn into Chinese government at this point. If you know someone that is using WeChat, your info already in Chinese government's hand. Welcome to the People Republic of Arcadia!

On Tay's Fighting Crime mailer, saying that he was a former police volunteer, which is very confusing title for those of us not working for the public safety sector. So I found a police volunteer job description on Google:

Volunteers perform various duties, except actual Police work. Such duties include: administrative duties, computer skills (Microsoft applications), data entry, filing, typing, cataloging, copying, telephone answering. Volunteers do not replace law enforcement or civilian personnel.

Dont even bother coming in. Call dispatch and have a officer come to your house. Waited 2 hours at the station for someone to fill out a report. I ended up leaving.

Arcadia Police Department has too much money. They are grossly overpaid for doing NOTHING, and that is called WELFARE. They do not give a damn about victims, and ask questions that are none of their business. Who I have or not have sex with is none of their business either. They are extremely corrupt, from the very top, and caca rolls downhill. I have nothing but horror stories regarding those people, and they want victims to basically drop dead. They are out to harrass the innocent, for the most part. Criminals have all the rights!

    4/7/2017 (1 star review)
The officers they have here are very ignorant and unpleasant to have in the community. They should be helping the community trying to make everyone feel safe instead of pulling kids over after virtue and trying to scare them while giving them citations. One of the worst police departments I have every been to, and I travel around nationally and internationally a lot. Things need to be changed!!!

    2/19/2017 (1 star review)
detective clark never calls back when he says he will...the integrity of this police department has deteriorated and we are not sending the check this year!...it seems as if arcadia pd is more interested in the asian community here then the old money that made this city now has been taken over and nothing is being done about the burglaries, asian gangs, that come here for crime...i have lost the city i grew up in and no longer want to be apart of this corrupt community...i'm sure thats why we move to monrovia. monrovia and arcadia pdt don't like each other...even old judge hagerty is involved now...god bless

      1) Trump hates immigrants. That appeals to a lot of his low class caucasian supporters.
      2) Trump wants to deport immigrants.
      3) Trump is a Republican.
      4) Arcadia has lots of immigrants.
      5) Roger Chandler and Bob Harbicht are Republicans.
      6) Roger Chandler and Bob Harbicht support Trump and his immigrant policies.
      7) Roger, Bob and Donald would probably have no trouble with Beijing seizing immigrants and dragging them back to China for punishment. It would save ICE a lot of time and money.

  10. Will THE REAL ANDY CHEN STAND UP

Hypocrite Chameleon Andy Chen, who is ShoTay/Chandler Henchman that runs a smear campaign mainly on Chinese language media against the first Chinese woman candidate for the City Council - District 2

Here are a few facts about Chen on his facebook site:
    https://www.facebook.com/achen18

Selected education background from his facebook page:
Chinese for Christ Calvin Chao Theological Seminary in Alhambra, CA
[Class of 2012 · Master of Divinity · Master of Divinity]
[2003 to 2006 · Master of Arts in Biblical Studies · Master of Arts in Biblical Studies]

International Business Institute of Shanghai University
[Class of 1995 · International relations · International economics]

    Here are some questions:
    1. Prior to today, Chen provided no graduation dates on his education on facebook. Why?
    2. Did Chen want to mislead people to believe that he is still a young man attending the theological seminary? The Lord is My Shephard is blazoned on his facebook’s homepage. There are plenty of photos related to church and seminary activities posted on facebook.
    3. Chen is probably in his mid 40’s based on the graduation dates which he mysteriously provided on facebook today.
    4. Other than being the smear campaign henchman for Tay/Chandler, does anyone know Chen’s profession since graduating from seminary in 2012?

  18. Fine Line Seen in U.S. Spying on Companies

    https://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/21/business/us-snooping-on-companies-cited-by-china.html

    Excerpt:
WASHINGTON — The National Security Agency has never said what it was seeking when it invaded the computers of Petrobras, Brazil’s huge national oil company, but angry Brazilians have guesses: the company’s troves of data on Brazil’s offshore oil reserves, or perhaps its plans for allocating licenses for exploration to foreign companies.

Nor has the N.S.A. said what it intended when it got deep into the computer systems of China Telecom, one of the largest providers of mobile phone and Internet services in Chinese cities. But documents released by Edward J. Snowden, the former agency contractor now in exile in Russia, leave little doubt that the main goal was to learn about Chinese military units, whose members cannot resist texting on commercial networks.

The agency’s interest in Huawei, the giant Chinese maker of Internet switching equipment, and Pacnet, the Hong Kong-based operator of undersea fiber optic cables, is more obvious: Once inside those companies’ proprietary technology, the N.S.A. would have access to millions of daily conversations and emails that never touch American shores.

Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters, working closely with the National Security Agency, monitored the communications of senior European Union officials, foreign leaders including African heads of state and sometimes their family members, directors of United Nations and other relief programs, and officials overseeing oil and finance ministries, according to the documents. Go to the link to read the entire article:
    https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=125237353

    Excerpts:
By the mid-19th century, Britain was an almost unchallenged empire. It controlled about a fifth of the world's surface, and yet its weakness had everything to do with tiny leaves soaked in hot water. By 1800, tea was easily the most popular drink in the country. The problem? All the tea in the world came from China, and Britain couldn't control the quality or the price. So around 1850, a group of British businessmen set out to create a tea industry in a place they did control: India.

For All the Tea In China: How England Stole the World's Favorite Drink and Changed History is Sarah Rose's account of the effort to control the tea market, what she calls the "greatest single act of corporate espionage in history."

"The task required a plant hunter, a gardener, a thief, a spy. The man Britain needed was Robert Fortune," Rose writes. Fortune was the agent sent to sneak out of China the plants and secrets of tea production.

Before Fortune, England engaged in trade with China, sending opium in exchange for tea.
