Andy Bencosme is Still Running for Office in Arcadia

The big National Association of Realtors election is running until Friday, and the Arcadia Association of Realtors has a horse in that race by the name of Andy Bencosme. This is about a month and a week past Andy's previous electoral tilt in Sierra Madre.

As Bruce Springsteen might have put it, "Baby, he was born to run."

I couldn't figure out how to cast a ballot. But if you can click here and cast your vote.

And while we're on the topic of REALTOR® stuff, and listings that have the entire world agog with both envy and admiration, Sierra Madre has once again hit that most popular of looky-loo websites, Curbed Los Angeles, with another remarkable listing.

1949 Harwell Hamilton Harris house in Sierra Madre seeks $1.59M (Curbed Los Angeles link):

Looks like a pretty swanky place. And for that kind of bold cash, wouldn't it have to be?

    1. Hope Andy wins that position, and it occupies him too much for him to try and run again here.

  2. Yeah what is up with these people that continually need to be like and appreciated by being part of committees and commissions. I don't understand the need to feel empowered that way. Maybe their day job just isn't keeping them satisfied, busy or challenged enough?

PS - what is the status of the doomed olive trees on Mich.? They are looking sadder by the day.

    1. Some people do volunteer service because they want to help. Some find the work stimulating. Others have an agenda or business interest. Depends on the person.

    2. It's business, 6:44. The great majority of realtors on commissions and/or committees are following the game plan set out by the California Association of Realtors.
      Just business.

  4. Beauty is in the of the beholder, the Harris house looks a bit messy on the outside from these photos. Awkward protruding perches with a large overhanging second story. The aesthetics not pleasing with various lengts of windows and portholes.
    Each to their own.

    1. That was probably considered a very futuristic design back in the 1940s. Thing is, it doesn't look dated today. I like it.

    2. It is nice to think that Sierra Madre has homes architecturally interesting enough to attract the attention of a site like Curbed.

Israelis kill more than 50 Palestinians in Gaza protests, health officials say
Israeli soldiers on Monday killed 52 Palestinians demonstrating along the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip and wounded more than 2,400 in the bloodiest day in the enclave since the 2014 war with Israel, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

  9. The concrete homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright Jr. I find beautiful in simplistic clean lines that work well in the California terrain, also hold their designs in current Archuture.

Trump's dog and pony show is said to be directly responsible for protesters dying.
