Apocalypse Arcadia Is Only A Week From Next Tuesday

Everybody is getting ready for the big Arcadia blow out on June 5th. Will the City Council finally be able to pick a Mayor as planned? The supporters of Sho Tay will be there en masse to demand that he be selected as the next mayor, otherwise it would be racist. That has been pretty much standard operating procedure these days. Up until now his claque has neither been respectful, honest, or positive. Rather they have been hot-headed, disrespectful, demanding apologies for what they blindly interpret to be racism, and noisily disruptive.

The mad mail keeps flowing in to Arcadia City Hall, and most of it is mind-boggling in its cluelessness. As an example for today, I have picked one out. I'll probably do this with a few others as we head to the big day. Especially if they unkindly disparage The Tattler, as this one does. Here is what we found.

This email is from Stella Gu, who doesn't live in District 5. Stella lives in District 1 on Alta Street, Arcadia. She is not a homeowner, she is a renter.  She has been very outspoken about the Historical Preservation Ordinance, yet she would be completely unaffected as the condo she lives in would never be included. It may be because she is not a homeowner that she has a total lack of understanding as to how a historic preservation ordinance would work and what the benefits of preservation would be.

There was a negative mailer against Jolly Wu. It was in Chinese. It was re-published on the Tattler.

She claims there were 6 mailers, but attaches only 3, because there were only 3. One was a flyer that was passed out door to door by volunteers. They were all from the Committee to Oppose Roger Chandler and they were all clearly marked as such.

They were all filled with facts, copies of actual state filings and citations to city records.

In contrast, Sho Tay's mailers included false statements about the voting of city council members without any reference to the city records to back up his claims.

Since Sho Tay's mailer was the one of the only mailers sent in support of Chandler and Chandler won, it would seem likely that voters relied on the information in that mailer when voting for Chandler.

The mailer titled "Inside Arcadia" clearly is not the city of Arcadia's logo and clearly states it is from the Committee to Oppose Roger Chandler. You wouldn't know it was a mailer against Chandler unless you read it and you would know that it wasn't from the city of Arcadia if you read it.

Beck was endorsed by 2 people with ties to real estate development, but he did not receive any money from them. They are both residents of Arcadia and live in Beck's district. Tay, Harbicht and Chandler all received $1,000s of dollars from real estate developers, agents and special interests that do business with the city of Arcadia. The impropriety is the acceptance of money to get elected. The candidate then owes his seat to the donor.

Verlato never received money from real estate interests in Arcadia.

The Arcadia Rights Protection Association is currently under investigation by the FPPC for failing to file required campaign finance disclosure forms and failing to put required disclaimers and notices on their mailers meant to inform the voter of who is really supporting the candidates. Again, this was previously covered on the TattlerStella needs to review the past Tattler posts.

There was not a single negative mailer against Harbicht. Not one. Nada. And he still lost. There were multiple negative mailers against Beck and campaigners going door to door accusing Beck of being racist against Asians, a total lie. And Beck was attacked on Sho Tay's website, Arcadia's Best.

Moral of the story: Stella doesn't know what she is talking about. Here is her letter.

    4. Ms. Stella forgot to mention that Sho Tay sent out illegal mailers and he lied about "fake" ordinances he never wrote. Then he lied in a city council meeting to try to cover his tush. Turned out that he lied to cover up a lie. Proof? Read the emails from the city attorney to Laurie Thompson. All the emails have been documented in their entiretly for everyone to read on the Tattler.

    1. Funny distraction!

Dennison should know by now that the FBI gets info from informants and even places undercover agents into crime syndicates. So they got info from an informant. So what?

What the FBI really should have done is place undercover agents inside the Dennison Crime Syndicate. If it had, Dennison would have his wish that the investigation be over by now. Of course, that wish, whenever it comes true, will be accompanied by a boatload of indictments!

    1. Up until recently (2009?) the team stayed together in the locker room and came out for the game to play. The pre-game ceremony plus the National Anthem was for the fans in the stands. Now this. Not a good solution as the team will be fragmented by those who come out for the anthem and those who come out after.

  25. Green map is the very first one created by the city hired worker, it is the closest to school district maps which people know each other more than any other ways, also it creates major Asian populations required in that way. It is the only one map that is 100% defendable under the California Law.

Unfortunately, green map doesn't count any current council members' addresses into it.

If at large law suit is lost eventually, the city of Arcadia might have to go back from purple to green map. Purple map is only a temporary solution.

  27. As long as Redistricting remains, election problems will present obstacles & encourage developer manipulated
CC candidates. When residents demand that campaign funding be limited by City Council to the $3 -$5K range, new candidates will emerge & level the playing ground. Funding limitation is the direction to promote if we have to live with lack of choice in candidates. Sho's & his people wanted the Purple Map & it seems to have
guaranteed his re-election ......a dark day for democracy in Arcadia.

  28. 12:35pm, let us create an example without a penny spend for running a city council position. People every where need a caring heart, not by creating rumors, why can't we do it?

    Feel better? Let's do it.

Let us Ban any campaign contributions, ban any yard campaign signs, ban any campaign flyers in the year 2020.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Most likely,April or Peter won't support it by casting their votes against it in the city council meeting if someone creates one resolution banning all campaign funds, signs or flyers.

Other council members won't run in next eight years.

Basically, someone in this group needs create a measure and gather enough signatures and vote for it.

May I suggest if you don't mind, How about, Ms. Thompson leads us for it?

  30. Following the logic that if the Historic ordinance doesn’t affect a renter as Ms. Gu, then she doesn’t have right to have a say about it, why do all the Sierra Madre people in this blog care about what happens in Arcadia? Why does the Tattler even write about Arcadia? I’m not sure what you guys are lacking of, a heart or a brain? Similarly, why did people live in District 2 care about the election in District 5? Why do people live in Arcadia care about what’s going on in Washington DC? Some of you guys are absolutely irrational and ridiculous.

    1. 2 Reasons

      1) For Sierra Madre certain Arcadia Realtor and developer interests are straight from the belly of the beast. As an example, when Measure V was on the ballot here nearly $160,000 was raised by various interests to defeat it. Much of it funneled through the Arcadia Realtors Association.

      2) The same people who launched a blitzkreig of disinformation in Sierra Madre are now tearing up Arcadia. Call it a morbid fascination. They're eating their own.

  31. Stella Gu is also known as Liangyi Gu, lives on Alta Street, Arcadia.

She's a key person and should be investigated in voter fraud, especially if she voted in District 5, where she claims to reside in her email.

  32. I live in district 2. I care about district 5 because that candidate has power over what happens in my district when he/she votes. Frustrating when a council member votes for something not good in my district and we cannot vote them in or out. The best we can do is to get involved in some way in every district. In Arcadia's situation districts are not the best way to be represented.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Stella Gu (AKA Liangyi Gu) is a self-claimed community leader in the Arcadia Chinese community.

Since she lives in District 1, maybe she is considering running as a CC candidate against April Verlato in Nov. 2020.
