Pasadena Building and Safety employee harasses woman and her child in road rage incident - Put on leave

Mod: Anybody know who this entitled jerk is? Rotten Rose authorities are not sharing his identity yet, even though he is wearing his city dog tag. Apparently this fine City of Pasadena employee decided to take things into his own hands and harassed a woman whose driving somehow managed to displease him. The entire thing was caught on video tape, and is now well on its way to going viral on the Internet. The Pasadena Star News has an article up on this latest incident of a city employee losing it on video tape.

Pasadena city employee on leave after videotaped harassing woman, blocking her car in Target parking lot (Pasadena Star News link): In what could be considered a road rage incident, a video taken in the Pasadena Target parking lot shows a city employee blocking an SUV from leaving because he said the woman driving the vehicle turned the wrong way and cut him off.

Throughout the 10-minute video recorded by a passerby, the man — who identified himself as a city employee and was driving a Pasadena Building & Safety car — positioned his car parked behind the woman’s as he got out, called the police and told the woman that she needed to learn a lesson.

Pasadena spokeswoman Lisa Derderian confirmed the man is a city employee and the city is investigating the matter. She declined to identify him because it’s a personnel matter, but she said he is on administrative leave pending the investigation.

“We are aware of it, and we’re taking it very seriously,” Derderian said. “We don’t take matters like this lightly, so we are investigating.”

Mod: The rest of the PSN article can be found at the link. He's probably now on paid leave, which is somehow different than a vacation. That and we likely won't know this guy's identity, or see any results of Derderian's investigation, this year. If ever.

But wait, there's more!

  1. This employee will be receiving his concealed weapons permit by the end of July and be ready to his the streets of Pasadena, California to help fight crime? I am guessing his person did not get the employee memo to keep yourself and the city of Pasadena out of any headlines that portray Pasadena in a negative light?

    1. If he was Pasadena PD he would have shot her.

    2. Maybe he was looking for a bribe.

  2. Between the embezzlers, the shoot first and ask questions later cops, and this pompous ass, you can get the impression that City of Pasadena employees don't think the normal rules of behavior apply to them. Maybe it's all that money they make.

  3. Just think, he could have bought some weaponry from the Pasadena PD officer on Sycamore in Sierra Madre that was selling all the guns out of his house. I remember years ago a man following me into Ralph's on Foothill because I allegedly made him slow down as I made my left hand turn into the parking lot (don't think I did). He came inside and yelled at me, while his wife tried to get him to stop. These days it is so scary when every nutcase has a gun. I certainly hope this guy gets some sort of reprimand.

  6. Agreed 6:25AM all city employees should carry concealed weapons at all times.

  7. The woman made a illegal wrong turn onto a one way street, lucky she did not kill anyone.
I would not say the employee is entitled, after all he works for the City of Pasadena, employees are well aware of all the resident idiots.

  8. Glad the woman videoing the incident was there, stayed to witness and help the woman and called him out on his bullshit and d*ck-waving.

  9. The wrong way driver should thank the man, he may have just saved lives.
If that mother could not read and understand a one way sign, who's to say that her next trip to Target would be driving up a freeway off ramp.

    1. I am not sure kidnapping is the appropriate punishment for taking a wrong turn in a parking lot.

  10. I know right? We all missed out on buying weapons from the Pasadena PD living on Sycamore, would have saved me a trip to the gun show.
Follow the rules of the road.
If you cut off the driver behind you because you dont think traffic rules apply to you on proper left hand turns and crossing into on coming traffic, then i would have been pissed also.

    1. Actually you are not required to abide by any signs on private property (Target parking lot) these laws apply to public roads on a private street you-are both at fault for any injury damage.......

  12. Hey, the guy's from Building & Safety, he should be chastised for the poor design of the one way street.

  13. I've dealt with this guy before. Sadly, he's pretty par for the course of Pasadena city bureaucrats.

8:38 -- saved lives! driving up a freeway off ramp!

Please do not ever sit on a jury. You make grandiose pronouncements without evidence.

If you agree with what the Pas employee did, maybe you should go out and do similar things when you see what you believe are violations of the vehicle code.

Let us know how it works out for you.
