Space Force: Space Cadets Need a Logo & You Can Help!

Mod: Earthlings, as with those MAGA hats, the Trump/Pence PAC is already working very hard to monetize the Space Force. "As a way to celebrate President Trump’s announcement, our campaign will be selling a new line of gear." Also Made in China, I'm sure.

Trump’s PAC wants to know which Space Force logo you like best (The Verge link): This morning, Vice President Pence detailed the administration’s plans to create a Space Force, and now the Trump PAC wants to know which logo to use for the new branch of the military. The Trump Make America Great Again Committee emailed supporters today asking them to vote on six different Space Force logos. The plan is to create a “new line of gear” based on one of the designs.

All six are stylized like the traditional mission patches that accompany most space launches. One of them seems to be the NASA logo but red and yellow. Another proclaims “Mars Awaits,” though the Space Force really has nothing to do with Mars. Instead, it’s about reorganizing the way the military procures satellites and trains personnel.

Space Force has quickly become a major part of the Trump brand, and it looks like it will have its own line of merchandise akin to the Make America Great Again hats. Graphic designers have already thought about what the organization’s branding could look like. It’s a peppy way to commemorate a new bureaucratic reshuffling of the Defense Department. These badges seem more like merch than an official logo for a new branch of the military. We’ll have to keep waiting for that.

Mod: If you go to The Verge site there is a link that will allow you to vote on the six approved logos described above. However, there are also some logos floating around the Internet that are strictly unofficial, and I thought I'd share some with you here.

  1. Pence details plan for creation of Space Force in what would be the sixth branch of the military
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/pence-details-plan-for-creation-of-space-force-in-what-would-be-the-sixth-branch-of-the-military/2018/08/09/0b40b8d0-9bdc-11e8-8d5e-c6c594024954_story.html

In a letter to supporters Thursday, the Trump 2020 campaign said it would sell a line of gear that could come with a logo of their choosing — including one labeled “Mars Awaits” — to commemorate “President Trump’s new Space Force,” according to a copy of the email — a move that fueled criticism that the effort was motivated by politics.

  2. This is a joke, right? Space is a vacuum. It literally means empty. So Trump wants a branch of the military to fight for the millions of square miles of empty space? Nothing like bankrupting the country by funding an army to guard an empty warehouse. But it's taxpayer money. Trump is not a taxpayer.

  13. National security expert John Schindler: Trump should fear 'assassination' by Putin if he stops being valuable to Russian interests

    https://www.rawstory.com/2018/08/national-security-expert-john-schindler-trump-fear-assassination-putin-stops-valuable/

National security expert John Schindler, a former NSA analyst, argued on Thursday that President Donald Trump should fear assassination by Russian President Vladimir Putin if he becomes no longer valuable to the Russian Federation.

In a column for the Observer, Schindler writes that Putin “can do worse” to Trump than the impeachment proceedings he might be facing after special counsel Robert Mueller closes his investigation into Russia’s attack on the U.S. election system.

“President Trump has more than mere kompromat to worry about here,” he says. “Under Vladimir Putin, Russian intelligence has embarked on a global assassination spree of a kind not seen in the Kremlin since Stalin’s time… [L]ess than three years ago, Putin’s operatives murdered in the heart of our nation’s capital, just a mile from the White House.”

“That message was hard to miss,” he adds. “Robert Mueller can open the door to Donald Trump’s impeachment and prosecution. Vladimir Putin can do worse and does not need to play by any legal rules.”

  14. Russian state TV warns Trump to 'do what we say' if you want 'support in the elections'

One of Russia’s state-run TV news programs this week expressed displeasure with newly announced sanctions being leveled against the Kremlin — and one guest said that it was time to put direct pressure on President Donald Trump to get his administration to back off.

Julia Davis, who runs the Russian Media Monitor website, reports via Twitter that news show “60 Minutes” this week held a panel discussion about actions Russia should take to retaliate against the latest round of American sanctions.

Vitaly Tretyakov, the dean of the Moscow State University’s School of Television, argued that the Russian government should use whatever leverage it had over Trump to bend the president to its will.

“Let’s turn this into a headache for Trump,” he said, according to Davis’ translation. “If you want us to support you in the elections, do what we say.”

  15. Just a reminder that while Pence calls for $8 billion to fund Trump's Space Force idiocy, Senate Republicans just rejected $250 million to bolster election security despite a CURRENT and ONGOING cyberattack by Russia ahead of midterms.

    1. And Traitor Tot's "relationship" with Ivanka is just as sick & creepy as we all suspect it is.

On Donald Trump’s relationship with his daughter Ivanka

The US president’s favorite child is not difficult to guess. In 2006 he infamously said: “I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her. Isn’t that terrible?”

Manigault Newman got to see the relationship up close.

“For as long as I’d known Trump, I’d observed the way he hugs, touches, and kisses Ivanka; the way she calls him Daddy. In my opinion, based on my observations, their relationship goes up to the line of appropriate father/daughter behavior and jumps right over it,” she writes.

Trump “covets” his daughter, the author continues, while she exploits her status as “Daddy’s little girl” to get her way. Contrary to her public image, Ivanka has the “worst potty mouth”, Manigault Newman writes.

The author recalls an incident in which musician Gene Simmons, a friend of Trump, talked about Ivanka in a room full of people, “leering openly at her breasts” and declaring: “She’s a very, very sexy, desirable young woman who I’m looking forward to getting to know much better if you know what I mean, with all due respect.” Trump egged him on, the book says.

Manigault Newman also recalls Ivanka’s speech at the 2016 Republican National Convention, after which Trump placed his hands low on her hips. “I thought, ‘Why don’t the two of you cut it out?’”

  27. US budget deficit totals $76.9 billion in July

The federal government racked up a $76.9 billion deficit in July, with increased government spending and tax cuts keeping the country on track to record its biggest annual deficit in six years.

The Treasury Department reported Friday that in the first 10 months of this budget year, the deficit totaled $684 billion, up 20.8 percent from the same period last year. Revenues are up only 1 percent this year, the increase held back by a big drop in corporate tax payments. Spending is up 4.4 percent, reflecting a big boost Congress approved earlier this year for domestic and military programs and the rising costs of financing the debt.

For the current budget year, which ends Sept. 30, the administration is now projecting a deficit of $890 billion. That would be up 33.7 percent from last year's deficit of $665.8 billion.

The administration's July estimates project that the deficit will top $1 trillion in 2019, climbing to $1.1 trillion that year, and remaining above $1 trillion for three years.
