Republican Group Accuses Trump, Pence Of Corruption In Fiery TV Ad

Mod: It appears that not everyone in the GOP wants to be associated with the rampant corruption of the Trump administration.

Republican Group Accuses Trump, Pence Of Corruption In Fiery TV Ad (Huffington Post link): A Republican group that’s been highly critical of President Donald Trump is running a new TV spot on Thursday, hitting at Trump and Vice President Mike Pence for corruption and hypocrisy.

“Foreign governments cannot participate in the American political process,” Pence declares in a 2016 clip featured in the spot created by Republicans for the Rule of Law. The ad will air Thursday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in the Washington, D.C., market.

Pence was attacking Hillary Clinton over donations foreign governments made to the Clinton Foundation when she was secretary of state. But as the spot notes, Pence has remained silent as foreign governments such as Saudi Arabia and Bahrain spend big at Trump-owned hotels and resorts.

An analysis by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington identified more than 110 officials representing some 60 foreign governments who have stayed at Trump properties since the inauguration, according to The New York Times.

In addition, Trump has come under fire for government spending at his own properties. This week, it was revealed that the U.S. military had spent at least $184,000 at Turnberry, Trump’s resort in Scotland. And earlier this month, Pence and his entourage stayed at Trump’s resort in Ireland, even though it was some 180 miles from the site of his meetings in the country.

Chris Truax, legal adviser and spokesman for Republicans for the Rule of Law, said it was wrong when Clinton allowed the donations to the foundation, which was set up by her husband, former President Bill Clinton. But he added:

"It’s doubly wrong when President Trump allows foreign governments to pour money into his for-profit hotels. And when President Trump allows the U.S. government to pour money into his hotels, it crosses the line between the appearance of corruption and corruption itself."

“Not allowing politicians to line their own pockets with taxpayer money is Democracy 101,” Truax added.

The group said the ad will be the first salvo in a larger campaign aimed at attacking corruption in the Trump administration.

  1. It looks like Trump's corrupt buddy in Israel has been given the boot.

Netanyahu rival Benny Gantz declares victory in close Israel election

Benny Gantz, a former chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, declared victory in the nation’s close parliamentary election Thursday, two days after voters went to the polls. Gantz, 60, leader of the opposition Blue and White party, has held a steady lead over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his conservative Likud party, with 98% of the votes counted.

Official figures have not yet been released, but Gantz held two seats more than Netanyahu in the tight race. The Electoral Commission in Israel only releases voting figures, without any declarations of a winner.

On Thursday, Israel spun into political melodrama as Netanyahu attempted to grab the momentum ahead of coalition negotiations to form a government even as Gantz appeared to be cementing his slight lead.

Gantz campaigned on the promise that he would not join any government with the participation of Netanyahu, who is under a legal cloud as he confronts imminent indictment on several corruption charges.

Gantz rejected Netanyahu’s overture, saying that as head of the largest party in Israel, he planned to “lead a government of national unity and liberalism.”

  2. Giuliani says 'of course' he asked Ukraine to look into Biden seconds after denying it

President Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani gave conflicting answers in an interview on CNN on Thursday night as to whether he asked Ukraine to look into former Vice President Joe Biden, saying at one point "of course I did."

After CNN host Chris Cuomo questioned whether Giuliani had asked Ukraine to investigate Biden, Giuliani said, "No, actually I didn't. I asked the Ukraine to investigate the allegations that there was interference in the election of 2016 by the Ukrainians for the benefit of Hillary Clinton."

"You never asked anything about Hunter Biden? You never asked anything about Joe Biden?" Cuomo followed up.

"The only thing I asked about Joe Biden is to get to the bottom of how it was that Lutsenko ... dismissed the case against AntAC," Giuliani said, referring to former Ukrainian prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko and the Ukrainian-based Anti-Corruption Action Centre (AntAC).

"So you did ask Ukraine to look into Joe Biden," Cuomo said.

"Of course I did," Giuliani replied. ..............................................

  4. Whistleblower complaint about President Trump involves Ukraine, according to two people familiar with the matter

A whistleblower complaint about President Trump made by an intelligence official centers on Ukraine, according to two people familiar with the matter, which has set off a struggle between Congress and the executive branch.

The complaint involved communications with a foreign leader and a “promise” that Trump made, which was so alarming that a U.S. intelligence official who had worked at the White House went to the inspector general of the intelligence community, two former U.S. officials said.

Two and a half weeks before the complaint was filed, Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, a comedian and political newcomer who was elected in a landslide in May.

    1. There have been at least 1,000 offensive instances that should have gotten Trump and his cronies fired since they began festering and creating their own swamp. Somehow, SOMEHOW, ever day we read about it, hear about it, complain about it, whether it be on CNN, MSN, the Tattler.... all the same because we just read and think... "oh geezus again" and then we go back to focus on work, go eat a sandwich, whatever, and then just wait for the next bit of incredulous news that will shake our head. I just don't get why this all still continues to happen with NO real consequences. There seem to be few to no adults in the world that can truly require justice be served. This is bad, really bad. Sad for our future, this country has at least maintained a front of trying really hard to mostly do the right thing as a world leader (until Trump), now we have really seemingly weakened and likely ruined a lot of that. Sad and pathetic; it was preventable, and we aren't correcting this mistake fast enough.

  12. I changed my voting status from Decline to State to Republican in 2016 so I could vote against Trump in the Primary. So...I get all his crazy emails, including the one to buy Trump straws, because "the Liberal Democrats are destroying America by foisting paper straws on the unsuspecting public" something like that. I showed it to my husband, who thought it was The Onion, a parody. Sadly, this guy would be a parody, if he weren't so evil.
