CNN: Biden's in one of the best positions for any presidential challenger since scientific polling began

Mod: Over 100,000 dead from the pandemic, 40 million people out of work, systemic economic collapse, and many American cities in flame. Quite a record of accomplishment for Agent Orange.

Biden's in one of the best positions for any challenger since scientific polling began (CNN link): A new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows former Vice President Joe Biden clearly ahead of President Donald Trump. Biden's up by a 53% to 43% margin among registered voters in this survey.

But it's important to put individual polls into context, and that context continues to show Biden's in one of the best positions for any challenger since scientific polling began in the 1930s.

There were more than 40 national public polls taken at least partially in the month of May that asked about the Biden-Trump matchup. Biden led in every single one of them. He's the first challenger to be ahead of the incumbent in every May poll since Jimmy Carter did so in 1976. Carter, of course, won the 1976 election. Biden's the only challenger to have the advantage in every May poll over an elected incumbent in the polling era.

Biden remains the lone challenger to be up in the average of polls in every single month of the election year. His average lead in a monthly average of polls has never dipped below 4 points and has usually been above it.

A look at the fundamentals shows why Trump continues to trail. Simply put, he remains unpopular. His net approval rating (approval - disapproval) in the ABC News/Washington Post poll was -8 points. That's very close to the average of polls, which has it at about -10 points.

At no point during the past three years has Trump ever had a positive net approval rating. The only other two presidents to have a net approval rating this low at this point in the campaign were Carter in 1980 and George H.W. Bush in 1992. Both of them lost reelection.

  7. Trump lags in polls as crises press

President Trump took to Twitter on Monday morning to complain about a “heavily biased Democrat Poll” — the latest sign he is feeling the pressure as his fortunes sag five months before November’s election.

The poll from ABC News and The Washington Post showed Trump losing to likely Democratic challenger Joe Biden by 10 percentage points. The poll is not a notable outlier among recent surveys, nor is there any objective evidence that it is biased.

The results point to the electoral perils Trump faces as unrest about racial injustice explodes across the nation while voters grapple with the coronavirus crisis and its economic impact.

  8. #BunkerBoy was so embarrassed that folks mocked him for hiding out in his hidey hole that he got military police to shoot peaceful protestors w/ rubber bullets & tear gas just so he could stroll across the street w/ his white men & his high heeled daughter for a photo op w/ a bible.

  9. Trump says he put the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in charge. In charge of what? Military action against U.S. citizens?

Senator Tom Cotten(headed-ninny-muggins)calls for "no quarter" against protestors despite knowing that calling for "no quarter" is a war crime.

  10. 3 more linked to neo-Nazi group arrested in Georgia

Three men linked to a violent white supremacist group known as The Base were charged with conspiring to kill members of a militant anti-fascist group, police in Georgia announced Friday, a day after three other members were arrested on federal charges in Maryland and Delaware.

A senior FBI national security official said police and federal agents intentionally moved to arrest the men ahead of Monday’s rally because they believed some of them intended to commit violence there. It was unknown if the men arrested in Georgia planned to attend the rally in Richmond.

The Base, a collective of hardcore neo-Nazis that operate as a paramilitary organization, has proclaimed war against minority communities within the United States and abroad, the FBI has said. Unlike other extremist groups, it’s not focused on promulgating propaganda — instead the group aims to bring together highly skilled members to train them for acts of violence.

  11. I’m curious to know how he’ll act when he’s no longer protected by the US military and hordes of secret service people. I’m guessing he’ll take up residence in the next new underground trump bunker hotel and never come out. We can only hope.
