Win or lose on Tuesday — Trump is about to unleash hell

Mod: You know, he hasn't been called our Halloween Hellbeast for nothing.

Win or lose — Trump is about to unleash hell (Raw Story link): With poll numbers staying put and the odds of a Joe Biden win in Tuesday’s election looking good — possibly by a decisive margin — there’s mounting dread about how Donald Trump will behave after a defeat. After all, Trump is a sociopathic narcissist with the emotional control of a — well, I won’t insult toddlers with the comparison — and he lives in mortal terror of being viewed as a loser. He’s already made clear that he will refuses to concede, no matter what, and he’s grasping desperately for any way to get legal ballots thrown out so he can steal the election.

No wonder people are afraid Trump will go completely apes**t if his efforts to steal this fail and he actually loses.

As Salon’s Matthew Rozsa recently explained in a popular piece, psychologists worry that the narcissistic injury to Trump will result in him lashing out “in his vindictive rage to punish an America which he may believe has consigned him to ‘loser’ status.”

On Friday, Ron Suskind of the New York Times published an article based on interviews with “some two dozen officials and aides, several of whom are still serving in the Trump administration,” who worried that “the president could use the power of the government” to lash out at enemies, try to steal the election or otherwise wreak havoc on the nation.

Trump could do real damage to the country, his successor or presidential traditions,” Garrett Graff wrote Wednesday at Politico, adding that “there’s reason to wonder if a Trump transition might actually be the start of the wildest chapter of an already controversial presidency.”

We May Need the Twenty-Fifth Amendment if Trump Loses,” blares a headline at the New Yorker.

Of course we should be worried that Trump, a vindictive man whose only true pleasures come from sadism, will abuse his power to punish Americans if he loses.

But let’s be honest: He’s also going to do that if he wins.

Los Angeles Times poll shows Biden headed for historic margin of victory in California (65% to 29%)

Mod: You know, maybe if those dedicated Republicans got just a few more Trump flags flying everything would work out just swell here for Screaming Don.

Biden headed for historic margin in California, poll shows (Los Angeles Times link): With one week to go before the 2020 campaign ends, California remains on track to hand former Vice President Joe Biden a victory by the largest margin for a Democratic presidential candidate in state history, the final UC Berkeley Institute for Governmental Studies poll indicates.

Biden leads President Trump 65%-29%, the poll finds. That 36-point margin would top the 30-point advantage that Hillary Clinton amassed against Trump in 2016, the previous record for a Democrat.

The only larger victory in state history came exactly a century ago, in 1920, when Warren G. Harding, the Republican, beat James Cox, the Democratic candidate, by 42 points.

The likely outcome in California has never been in much doubt. The former vice president consistently has led Trump by huge margins in statewide polls for the past two years. The Republican ticket has never pretended to contest the race in the state, despite California's large trove of 55 electoral votes, visiting for fundraising but not much else.

A Republican hasn't carried California in a presidential contest since George H.W. Bush in 1988, and the state hasn't been competitive in more than a generation.

Biden leads among Californians of all races and regions of the state, with his strongest support coming from Los Angeles County (73%) and the Bay Area (77%) and among voters younger than 30 (75%), Black voters (84%), Latinos (72%) and Asian and Pacific Islanders (71%).

Among white voters, Biden leads 61%-34%, the poll finds. White voters who did not graduate from college — Trump's core group of supporters nationally — divide closely in California, with the president holding a 50%-45% edge. Biden has a huge advantage among college-educated white voters, 74%-21%.

A right-wing powder keg: How conservative media is convincing Trump fans that he’s winning bigly

Mod: The MAGA crowd is being lied to and won't likely figure it out. So how will they react when the hot bright lights of reality invade the Klan cave next week?

A right-wing powder keg: How conservative media is convincing Trump fans that he’s winning bigly (Raw Story link): Over the weekend, NPR interviewed some anxious voters. One, a Trump-supporter, said that his biggest worry was that Trump needed to win in a landslide to keep the left from claiming that the election was stolen. That Trump would win wasn’t in doubt.

For those who get their news from the conservative media, there is ample evidence that Trump is cruising to victory. In a National Review piece pushing back on such reports, Kevin Williamson writes that “many conservative media figures are predicting . . . a Trump landslide. This wish-casting is based on increasingly imaginative reading of the political terrain: Comedian Jimmy Failla of Fox News, for example, called a Trumplawnslide” based on — hold your breath, now — an informal poll of truckers who were giving their estimates of the ratio of Trump yard signs to Joe Biden yard signs.”

Boat parades, truck caravans, how many people believe their neighbors are supporting Trump and other quicky metrics have all been the basis of arguments that the “liberal media” is lying about Trump’s bleak position in the race.

On a press call earlier this month, Trump campaign advisor Corey Lewandowski told reporters that based on the campaign’s internal polling, as well as grassroots enthusiasm within Trump’s base, it was quickly becoming “mathematically impossible for Joe Biden to win this campaign.” Pro-Trump media outlets ran with it.

Serious election observers agree that it’s always best to focus on the polling averages rather than individual surveys because the former aren’t as noisy or prone to sampling errors. But throughout October, The Washington Examiner columnist Paul Bedard has written a series of posts painting a picture of Trump surging from behind to take a clear lead in carefully cherry-picked polls conducted by firms that are known for their strong pro-GOP “house effect,” or lean. Most of them are write-ups of the latest Rasmussen polls.

Rasmussen currently has Trump’s approval rating at 51 percent, a very different picture than his 42.5 percent approval rate in FiveThirtyEight’s polling average or the 44 percent in RealClearPolitics’. On Monday, when Rasmussen’s tracking poll gave Trump a narrow lead nationally and pegged Trump’s approval at 52 percent, Bedard noted that being over 50 percent is “a key factor to winning reelection. Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama were both at 50% when they edged out reelection victories.”

Trump could win this election–his chances are probably better than the 12 percent likelihood FiveThirtyEight’s forecast model gives him due to issues with mail ballots and potentially adverse rulings by partisan courts–but it’s hard to overstate how unmoored from reality the view that he’s presently leading in the race really is. Trump is the first president in the modern polling era whose disapproval rating exceeded his approval rating in his first month in office and he has remained under water in that metric for his entire presidency, usually by around ten points.

The presidential race has been historically stable, with Joe Biden leading Trump nationally by an average of 6 points all of last year, and expanding that lead to around 9 percentage points at present. Biden’s also been ahead in the top battleground states for every day of the race.

The shared goal of the Trump campaign and its sprawling propaganda network in presenting an alternate reality of the race is to keep donors writing checks and the Republican base engaged. Amid a raging pandemic, it’s not hard to imagine some voters who support a candidate trailing by a large margin deciding they’ll sit this one out, especially if they face long lines at the polls to cast a vote.

But in doing so, they’re creating a powder keg. The narrative that Trump is poised to win a second term is being pushed by the same politicians and media outlets that have spent years advancing a big, consequential lie that voter fraud is widespread in the United States. Taken together, they are telling millions of perpetually angry Trump supporters that he can only lose as a result of foul play.

New York Times: Kushner, Employing Racist Stereotype, Questions if Black Americans ‘Want to Be Successful’

Mod: The lavishly privileged Mr. Kushner is at best too damn clueless to even understand what he said. Either that or he's the world's poshest Proud Boy

Kushner, Employing Racist Stereotype, Questions if Black Americans ‘Want to Be Successful’ (The New York Times link): President Trump has repeatedly bragged about what he has done for Black America, pointing to his administration’s funding for Black colleges and universities, the creation of so-called opportunity zones and criminal justice reform.

But on Monday, Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, played into a racist stereotype by seeming to question whether Black Americans “want to be successful” despite what he said Mr. Trump had done for them.

“One thing we’ve seen in a lot of the Black community, which is mostly Democrat, is that President Trump’s policies are the policies that can help people break out of the problems that they’re complaining about,” Mr. Kushner said in an interview with “Fox & Friends,” the president’s favorite morning cable show. “But he can’t want them to be successful more than they want to be successful.”

In the interview, Mr. Kushner said that after the killing in May of George Floyd, a Black man, in police custody — an event that set off global protests about systemic racism, and which Mr. Kushner referred to as the “George Floyd situation” — a lot of people were more concerned with what he called “virtue signaling” than in coming up with “solutions.”

“They’d go on Instagram and cry, or they would put a slogan on their jersey or write something on a basketball court,” he said, an apparent reference to N.B.A. players like LeBron James who joined national protests over the issue of police brutality. “And quite frankly, that was doing more to polarize the country than it was to bring people forward,” he said. “You solve problems with solutions.”

Mr. Kushner’s remarks prompted a scathing response from Representative Gwen Moore, a Black Democrat from Wisconsin. She tweeted: “Trust fund baby slumlord Kushner who has enriched himself in the WH takes the silver spoon out of his mouth long enough to insert his foot with a racist trope about Black people and success.”

The Democratic National Committee was equally harsh. “According to the Trump administration, when African-Americans find fault in policies that have led to historic unemployment for Black families, an explosion of racial inequities and wealth gaps, and an uncontained global pandemic that has taken the lives of over 45,000 Black Americans, it means that we just don’t want to be successful badly enough,” said Brandon Gassaway, the national press secretary for the committee.

“This dismissive approach to the issues that Black voters care about is indicative of Trump’s callousness and disregard for the lives of Black people.”

Trump’s 60 Minutes Interview Is An Even Bigger Disaster Than Reported

: It's a hoot that people buy into Trump's tough guy myth. Leslie Stahl is 78 years old and all of about 100 lbs, and she breaks him. Look, if you can't even handle a 60 Minutes interview, how are you ever going to manage the job of being President of the United States?

Trump’s 60 Minutes Interview Is An Even Bigger Disaster Than Reported (PoliticusUSA link): Trump’s 60 Minutes was even worse than first reported and likely cost him any chance of winning reelection.

Transcript of Trump’s meltdown and walkout:

President Trump: I don’t have to discredit you.

Stahl: But that’s what you told me–

President Trump: You’ve discredited yourself.

Stahl: You know, I didn’t want to have this kind of angry- –

President Trump: Of course you did.

Stahl: No, I didn’t-

President Trump: Of course you did–

Stahl: –No, I didn’t.

President Trump: Well, then you brought up a lot of subjects that were inappropriately brought up–

Stahl: Well, I said, I’m gonna ask you tough questions.

President Trump: They were inappropriately brought up. Right from the beginning. No, your first question was, “This is going to be tough questions.” You don’t ask Joe Biden, I saw your interview with Joe, the interview with Joe Biden.

Stahl: I never did a Joe Biden interview-

President Trump: It was a joke. The interview, “60 Minutes.” I see Joe Biden, giving softball after softball. I’ve seen all of his interviews. He’s never been asked a question that’s hard.

Stahl: Okay, but forget him for a minute. You’re president–

President Trump: No, but you start with me.

Stahl: You’re president, and-

President Trump: Excuse me, Leslie, you started with me. Your first statement was, “Are you ready for tough questions?”

Stahl: Are you?

President Trump: That’s no way to talk. That’s no way to talk.

Leslie, one, one second.

Stahl: At this point, one of our producers interrupted to advise about the time remaining in the interview.

President Trump: I think we have enough of an interview here, hope. Okay? That’s enough. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go meet for two seconds, okay? Thanks. I’ll see you in a little while. Thanks.

Trump can’t stand being reminded by a woman that he is responsible for all of this failure. Trump looked like a child, not a president.

He didn’t like the fact that the questions were too hard for him, so he left. Trump gave up and surrendered to the coronavirus. He gave up and ran away from 60 Minutes. America needs a president who will stand and fight, but all Trump knows how to do is bellow and run away.

Video: Russia State TV Suggests Trump Will Defect To Russia If He Loses Election

Mod: Faced with myriad legal difficulties and even imprisonment should he remain in the US following his defeat for reelection on Nov 3rd, a TV gig in Russia might not seem like such a bad deal to Donald. And certainly his appearing daily on Russia Today could be a ratings boon for them in the United States as the MAGA crowd would certainly be tuning in. After all, they're big fans of Russia-produced content already. Video link here.

Russia State TV Suggests Trump Will Defect To Russia If He Loses Election (The Intellectualist link): State-controlled Russian media outlet RT released a parody video using Deepfake technology on Tuesday suggesting President Donald Trump would defect to Russia if he loses the November election and join up with Russian state media.

The Daily Mail reported that the video imagines Trump as a guest anchor for RT and uses real audio clips of the president “fawning over Vladimir Putin, praising the Kremlin and slamming the mainstream media.”

Russia Today released its spoofy ad, entitled 'Trump is here to make RT Great Again! (or is he?!)' on Tuesday.

It features an actor dressed up like Trump with a similarly stocky build and a campy yellow wig - paired with real audio clips of the president fawning over Vladimir Putin, praising the Kremlin and slamming the mainstream media. The video appears to troll those who have accused Trump of being in Putin’s pocket, The Daily Mail wrote, and comes as the CIA released a report indicating that Putin is “probably directing” an influence campaign against Joe Biden.

The video ends with an invitation for viewers to tune into RT’s coverage of the U.S. election.

On its website, RT wrote: “If all doesn't go well for Donald Trump at the polls on November 3, then don't worry Mr. President, just hop on a plane to Moscow because there's a job waiting for you at RT. After all, the mainstream media has accused RT and Trump of working together to swing elections for years, so they might as well do it for real. What would it look like? Well, here is footage of the secret negotiations that have already taken place.”

Jared & Ivanka Threaten To Sue The Lincoln Project Over A Provocative Times Square Billboard Display

: The Kushner's are not happy about a Times Square billboard The Lincoln Project created. In a letter sent to The Lincoln Project their lawyers claim that Jared never uttered the words "(New Yorkers) are going to suffer and that's their problem." This article from September gives a different account.

'His people are going to suffer and that's their problem': Jared Kushner said New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo 'didn't pound the phones hard enough to get PPE for his state,' according to report (Business Insider link): In addition to his "free-market" comments that were jarring enough to spawn leaks from the March Situation Room meeting first reported by Vanity Fair, senior White House adviser Jared Kushner also had harsh words for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo

"Cuomo didn't pound the phones hard enough to get PPE for his state. ... His people are going to suffer and that's their problem," Kushner said, according to Vanity Fair.

Kushner was pushing back against those arguing for President Donald Trump to use the Defense Production Act to help get personal protective equipment to states.

States were outbidding each other and exacerbating the shortage, which persists today, particularly among nurses.

At the time, Cuomo was taking to the airwaves with his daily press briefings to implore the federal government to stop the bidding wars.

"That's the CNN bulls---," Kushner said, according to Vanity Fair. "They lie."

White House
press secretary Kayleigh McEnany denied the report in a statement to the magazine.

"This story is another inaccurate and disgusting partisan hit job," she said. "President Trump has consistently put the health of all Americans first."

CNN: Biden wins final presidential debate 53% to 39%

Mod: Trump didn't scream or interrupt quite as much, so we are expected to be impressed. But he still did lie an awful lot, and many think that also counts.

CNN Poll: Biden wins final presidential debate (CNN link): Joe Biden did a better job in the final debate on Thursday according to a CNN Instant Poll of debate watchers. Overall, 53% of voters who watched the debate said that Biden won the matchup, while 39% said that President Donald Trump did.

Viewers once again said that Biden's criticisms of Trump were largely fair (73% said they were fair, 26% unfair), and they split over whether Trump's attacks on Biden were fair (50% said yes, 49% no).

That's a more positive outcome for Trump

In a CNN Instant Poll after the first presidential debate, just 28% said they thought the President had won the debate, and 67% called his criticism of Biden unfair.

All told though, the debate did not do much to move impressions of either candidate. Favorable views of Biden before the debate stood at 55%, they held steady at 56% in post-debate interviews. Likewise, Trump's numbers held steady, with 42% saying they had a favorable view of the President in interviews conducted before Thursday's debate and 41% saying the same afterward.

Gallup: 56% of U.S. Voters Say Trump Does Not Deserve Reelection

Mod: The news has been so relentlessly nasty and, let's face it, crazy lately, I thought I'd hit you with something more hopeful. Don't take it the wrong way.

56% of U.S. Voters Say Trump Does Not Deserve Reelection (Gallup link): The majority of U.S. registered voters, 56%, believe President Donald Trump does not deserve to be reelected, while 43% say he does. Voters are even less likely to think "most members of Congress" deserve reelection (29%), although six in 10 say their own House member does.

The percentage of voters who say Trump deserves reelection to a second term is down seven percentage points from Gallup's previous measure in January -- a much different time in Trump's presidency, when confidence in the U.S. economy was high, the Senate was preparing to vote to keep Trump in office during his impeachment trial, and only a few cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in the U.S.

The percentage of voters who currently say Trump deserves to be reelected matches his latest overall job approval rating from the same poll. Gallup's previous measures of Trump's reelection deservedness were each within three points of his approval rating, and the significance to reelection is clear. As Gallup reported in May: "Historically, all incumbents with an approval rating of 50% or higher have won reelection, and presidents with approval ratings much lower than 50% have lost."

As would be expected, nearly all Republicans (93%) say the president deserves to be reelected, while few Democrats (3%) agree. Among independents, 36% say Trump deserves reelection and 61% say he does not.

With little time left and many Americans voting early, this could pose a challenge for Trump's prospects in November. The president's last best chance to sway voters in his favor may be in Thursday's final presidential debate -- though historically, debates have rarely changed voter preferences.

Klownpromat: Rudy Giuliani tricked by Sasha Baron Cohen into having ‘indiscreet encounter’ with young actress

Mod: Remember, this pathetic fool is the personal attorney of the President of the United States.

BUSTED: Rudy Giuliani tricked by Sasha Baron Cohen into having ‘indiscreet encounter’ with young actress (Raw Story link): Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani was reportedly tricked by comedian Sasha Baron Cohen into having an “indiscreet encounter” with a young actress who played a far-right journalist in his new “Borat” movie.

The Guardian, which has seen footage from Cohen’s upcoming movie, reports that “the former New York mayor and current personal attorney to Donald Trump is seen reaching into his trousers and apparently touching his genitals while reclining on a bed in the presence of the actor playing Borat’s daughter.” The actress in question, 24-year-old Bulgarian native Maria Bakalova, posed as a right-wing journalist interested in interviewing Giuliani to ask him about his work for President Donald Trump.

According to The Guardian, Bakalova after the interview asks Giuliani to come to her hotel room for a drink.

Little does the New York mayor know, however, that Bakalova’s room has been rigged with cameras — and as soon as Giuliani starts apparently playing with himself, Cohen’s character bursts into the room and tells him that she’s only 15 years old and thus “too old for you.”

MAGA Busted: New filings reveal Trump’s campaign and the GOP are in dire financial trouble

Mod: Be it business, government or a political campaign, Donald spends like that drunken sailor you've heard so much about, and never has enough.

New filings reveal Trump’s campaign and the GOP are in dire financial trouble (Raw Story link): On Tuesday, The New York Times reported that new filings show President Donald Trump’s campaign — and the Republican Party itself — are teetering on the brink of financial oblivion.

“New filings with the Federal Election Commission showed the extent of Mr. Trump’s cash troubles, which are severe enough that he diverted time from key battleground states and flew to California on Sunday for a fund-raiser with just over two weeks until Election Day,” reported Shane Goldmacher and Rachel Shorey. “The president ended September with just over half as much money as he had at the beginning of the month.”

“While Mr. Trump’s campaign and its shared committees with the Republican National Committee have raised $1.5 billion since the start of 2019, the disclosures late Tuesday showed that his main re-election committee — the account that must pay for many of the race’s most important costs, including most television ads — had only a small slice remaining,” continued the report.

“All told, Mr. Trump’s campaign and its shared committees with the R.N.C. had $251.4 million entering October, compared with the $432 million that Mr. Biden’s campaign and its joint accounts with the Democratic National Committee had in the bank.”

The cash crunch is leading the Trump campaign to scale back advertising, including in critical battleground states where some polls show them tied or trailing, like Ohio and Iowa, as well as states he had hoped to flip after they narrowly voted for Clinton in 2016, like Minnesota and New Hampshire.

Mr. Trump’s campaign has been seeking to trim costs for more than two months, since Bill Stepien replaced Brad Parscale as campaign manager,” said the report. “Under Mr. Parscale, the campaign spent heavily as it invested in constructing a huge database of email addresses and phone numbers to reach supporters and ask for money. But as the election neared, hopeful projections for a large uptick in contributions have not materialized.”

How Donald Trump Moved Millions From His Campaign Donors To His Private Business
(Forbes link): Donald Trump has not given a dime to his reelection campaign, opting instead to fund the entire effort with his donors’ money. His business, meanwhile, has continued to charge the campaign for things like food, lodging and rent. The result is that $2.2 million of contributions from other people has turned into $2.2 million of revenue for Trump.

And that’s just counting the money flowing directly through the president’s campaign. His reelection apparatus also includes two joint fundraising committees, which work with the Republican Party to raise money for Trump. Since he took office, those entities—named Trump Victory and the Trump Make America Great Again Committee—have funneled another $2.3 million into the president’s private business, according to a review of Federal Election Commission records.

Then there’s the Republican National Committee, which has spent an additional $2.4 million at Trump properties. Add it all up, and the president, working in concert with the party he leads, has helped push $6.9 million into his businesses since taking office.
