Pasadena Star News: How Larry Elder blames Snoop Dogg for his massive loss

Mod: My latest from Sunday. Like his hero Donald Trump, failed CA governor recall candidate Larry Elder takes blame casting and MAGA whining to ridiculous heights.

How Larry Elder blames Snoop Dogg for his massive loss (Pasadena Star News link): You’ve by now seen a couple of columns in the paper where Larry Elder attempts to assign guilt for his dismal performance in the California recall. It is a big task the fiercely talkative Mr. Elder has set for himself, mostly because he lost that election by as historically large a vote margin as possible. Even in a state leaning so heavily toward the Democrats he talks such trash about.

For you folks who haven’t been following the ongoing vote tabulation (about 99% are in), the pro-Newsom 'No' choice is commanding 62% of the total, a tiny fraction under 8 million. In his 2018 tilt against Johnny “Bear” Cox, Newsom received 7,721,410 votes, or 61.9% of the count. These figures show an actual increase in support for the governor, proving that this recall had none of the mass backing claimed by the Republican hard right. It was a tremendous waste of time and treasure.

It gets worse for Elder. There were about 12,750,000 votes cast on the recall question. Larry’s replacement vote total was an anemic 3,469,397, just 27% of that. So you’d think he’d want to move on, right? Yet Elder’s continued finger-pointing and blame-assigning have become almost Trumpian. Especially with his recent attacks on Snoop Dogg, of all people.

Here is how Elder exercises this odd compulsion in his article, “Recall reflections: Snoop Dogg and Obama defended racist status quo”:

“Clearly that shrewd political analyst, Snoop Dogg, knows that a ‘Republican takeover’ threatens Californians far more than rising crime; rising cost of living; highest state income tax in the nation; rising homelessness; poor wildfire management; water shortages that threaten agriculture … and that for the first time in history California suffered a net loss in population, primarily due to median cost of housing that is 250% above the median national home price.”

I don’t see what any of that has to do with Snoop. Solving those kinds of problems are not a part of any rap skill sets I know about. No more so than for the hosts of AM radio political call-in shows.

I’ve met Snoop Dogg. I worked at Interscope Records back in the day in Westwood, marketing unwholesome entertainment options to the kids. My office was just down the hall from partner label Death Row Records. It was quite a place to meet interesting people. And I cannot recall Snoop even once raising the topic of housing, though I’m certain he’s for it.

There’s been some talk about Larry and Snoop knowing each other during bygone times, almost all of it coming from Elder himself. There is even a video on Politico’s website where he claims, “I introduced (Snoop) to the evil weed … I taught him everything he knows.” That certainly made the news. Here is how New York Magazine dealt with it:

“You’d think having a governor who boasted of introducing Snoop Dogg to marijuana — a bit like introducing Michael Jordan to basketball — might be a little rich for Republicans. Then again, considering their affection for Donald Trump, maybe personal misconduct is just another way of being un-woke.”

I don’t think it is out of line to claim that this was all quite personal for Elder. After all he did for a young Snoop, only to be heartlessly abandoned two decades later. Just when he needed him most.

One more item: You may recall that a week before the election Elder launched a voter fraud website, and encouraged MAGAs to report any election shenanigans they might witness. A Trump kind of move that was widely criticized. The site (stopcafraud.com) is now banged up and out for sale. Which must mean that Elder’s hunt for vote fraud is over. I hope for his sake somebody is disappointed.

The only thing republicans understand are lawsuits, or being a larry elder LOSER.

When Shannon Jensen and Gina Kildahl sent their children back to their Wisconsin schools during the last school year, everyone had to wear masks. But when school resumed this fall, that was not the case — even as health experts warned that masks were necessary to keep a new highly contagious coronavirus variant from sweeping through classrooms.

  4. Remember there are republican controlled cites that still do it the old fashion way, cheat and lie there way to keep hold of power in those respective cities.

But in 2016, the state Legislature passed Senate Bill 958, which aimed to bring the county’s redistricting procedures in line with the statewide system established by voters in 2008 through Proposition 11. The idea was to encourage good government reform and take election rule-setting from the hands of self-interested elected officials.

  5. Trump's Latest Jan. 6 Riot Meltdown Gets Brutal Fact-Check, Courtesy Of Adam Schiff

Donald Trump threw another fit on Monday about the investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, in which his supporters attempted to stop the certification of the 2020 election and keep him in power.

Trump blasted Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), lead manager of Trump’s first impeachment, calling him “shifty” and demanded that the “partisan” committee investigating the riot “stop at once.” The committee has seven Democrats and two Republicans and is not partisan, despite Trump’s complaints.

Trump also delivered a curious gripe given his own position on the events of Jan. 6, writing:

  7. Mike Lindell is still spreading lies about the 2020 election. He most recently claimed 23,000 dead people voted in Wisconsin using a prison address.

Nearly one year after former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to President Joe Biden, MyPillow CEO and fierce Trump loyalist Mike Lindell is still espousing a string of bizarre - and false - claims about the election results.

This time, the right-wing businessman trumpeted a conspiracy theory that tens of thousands of people voted using a fake address and phone number in Wisconsin to help Biden win the battleground state that Trump took in 2016.

Without offering any evidence, Lindell, during an interview on his own website, michaeljlindell.com, suggested 23,000 people voted using the same prison address in the state and claimed "a lot of them" weren't even alive.

They have been found guilty of sexual and violent crimes, including murder and rape, or other serious job-related offenses, such as bribery and embezzlement. Some have admitted to molesting young children. Others have used their badges to enrich themselves or wield power over vulnerable members of their communities. Many are still sitting in prison cells. Yet the checks keep coming and will for the rest of their lives — all as taxpayers help foot the bill.

  14. How the Campaign to Recall DA George Gascón Went Down in Flames, shame on those BAD republicans.
California was in the midst of “recall fever” earlier this year as a loose array of conservative groups launched surprisingly strong campaigns targeting the governor and dozens of other state and local officials.
Then they came for George Gascón.
Gascón’s bête noire turns out to be not a seasoned political operative but an amateur pseudoactivist and law-enforcement booster named Heather Carbone. Though she took steps to hide her name from the official Gascón recall committee’s public paperwork, eight sources with ties to the operation confirmed that she was the person who called the shots.

Any number below -4 indicates extreme drought. The last “moderately wet” summer in California occurred in 2011.

Craig Clements, director of San Jose State University’s Fire Weather Lab, previously said the increased severity of wildfires is “a combination of everything — climate change, decades of fire suppression and drought.”

An analysis found 1 in 8 acres in California has been burned in the last decade.

Former(traitor) President Donald Trump has threatened legal action over a subscription-based "uncensored" social media app that he claims uses his name for commercial gain, The New York Post reported on Tuesday.

The app, published by a company called Howly Inc., is called 2nd1st, and bills itself as an "uncensored news and chat" app and a "free speech platform." It promises "social without cancel culture," per its Apple App Store page.

  21. 'There have to be consequences:' Judge ups sentences for U.S. Capitol rioters, Jan 06, 2021.

More than 650 people have been charged with joining the Jan. 6 violence, when supporters of Republican Donald Trump fought with police, smashed windows and charged through the building in an attempt to overturn his election defeat. So far, more than 100 people have pleaded guilty, and at least 17 of those defendants have been sentenced.

Four people died on the day of the violence, one shot dead by police and the other three of natural causes. A Capitol Police officer who had been attacked by protesters died the following day. Four police officers who took part in the defense of the Capitol later took their own lives. More than 100 police officers were injured.
