Swanky Vanky In The Dock: Jan. 6 Panel Seeks Testimony From Ivanka Trump

Mod: The failed attempt to violently overthrow American democracy is now a crime family affair.

Jan. 6 Panel Seeks Testimony From Ivanka Trump (The New York Times link): The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot on Thursday requested cooperation from Ivanka Trump, as it revealed pieces of what it has learned about a scramble inside the White House that day to get President Donald J. Trump to denounce and call off the mob that was laying siege to the Capitol.

In a letter to Ms. Trump, the former president’s eldest daughter who served as one of his senior advisers, the committee said it had obtained evidence that multiple White House officials — including Ms. Trump, at least twice — had implored Mr. Trump to call off the violence, only to be rebuffed. But aides at the time were also worried about Mr. Trump issuing anything other than a scripted statement during the mayhem.

“Apparently, certain White House staff believed that a live, unscripted press appearance by the president in the midst of the Capitol Hill violence could have made the situation worse,” wrote Representative Bennie Thompson, Democrat of Mississippi and the panel’s chairman.

The summoning of Ms. Trump suggested that the committee was delving deeper into the question of what Mr. Trump was doing and saying while the attack unfolded, as it seeks to determine his intentions and state of mind during the assault. The letter also made clear that the panel has already uncovered substantial evidence about those critical hours inside the White House from key players who were present that day.

Mod: Much more at the link.

'Annoyed' Ivanka Trump is 'barely mentioned' at Mar-a-Lago as investigators close in (Raw Story link): Ivanka Trump is “frustrated” and “annoyed” to be facing legal fallout from her time working for her father, according to a new report in The Daily Beast.

"Whether it’s the lawmakers on Capitol Hill plumbing the depths of last year’s failed coup, or prosecutors in New York putting former President Donald Trump’s sprawling family business under a microscope, investigators working very different probes are increasingly looking to pressure the same person: Ivanka Trump," The Beast noted. "And it’s all coming to a head this week."

The report noted a 115-page legal filing by New York Attorney General Letitia James seeking to compel the testimony of Ivanka along with an 11-page request for cooperation from the Select Committee Investigating the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation said that, over the last year, high-level conversations in former President Trump’s political operation rarely, if ever, involve Ivanka, and her name is barely even mentioned. This includes various strategy discussions and event-planning that do involve other prominent members of the Trump family," The Beast reported. "Instead, Ivanka has tried—with extremely limited success—to paint herself as a part-time humanitarian."

The Beast
spoke to one source who has known Ivanka for years. “She is somebody who, to her core, believes she still has so much to offer the world,” the source said. “To be hassled with investigation after investigation is not where she wanted to be at this chapter in her life.”

  1. “She is somebody who, to her core, believes she still has so much to offer the world,” the source said. “To be hassled with investigation after investigation is not where she wanted to be at this chapter in her life.”

Actions have consequences, Vanky. You should've left the Trump family decades ago if you wanted to protect your reputation. Now you have to live with the reputation you earned yourself.

    1. “She is somebody who, to her core, believes she still has so much to offer the world."

Designer knockoff shoes and handbags don't just import themselves, you know.

    2. "Ivanka has tried—with extremely limited success—to paint herself as a part-time humanitarian."

Yeah, that part occurs > only < in front of a ... camera ...

    3. Her core.... is sawdust and air. Nothing much more. Evidence-based proof.

  2. Boosters provide the best protection against Omicron variant, CDC studies show, raising new questions about what it means to be fully vaccinated

No urine therapy test results yet.

    1. Urine luck. Try a bleach/urine/ivermectin cocktail, sure to make you live sick-free for 100 years.

    2. I wonder how many people attending the ‘March For Life’ in DC today will also attend the big anti-vaccine rally in DC on Sunday and fail to see a shred of irony?

    3. Someone out there will study the cell phone pings for the two throwback events.

  3. All Communist upgraded to being a Republican Party member, one in the same, can not trust them any farther than a child could toss an elephant or a fat old orange faced disgraced president.
Prisons are reserving cell number 45 and going farther to make room for the disgraced first family.

  4. Cracks open between Republicans as alleged scheme to falsify 2020 election documents emerges

As Merrick Garland explained in his big speech earlier this month, the way to dismantle a criminal conspiracy is to start at the bottom and work up. It's a slow process, but it can be devastatingly effective.

That's why the fifty-nine Republicans who cast fake electoral votes are a gift to investigators seeking to understand Trump's role in the plot to overturn the 2020 election. These pseudo-electors impersonated public officials in a bid to overturn a presidential election.

They signed forged paperwork and sent it to the government. It's an open-and-shut case, but investigators could parlay this into something much bigger than prison terms for a few dozen local GOP operatives.

In a group of nearly 60 people facing serious prison time, at least some of them will be willing to implicate the higher ups to save themselves.

  5. Everyone Donald Trump touches eventually ends up tap-dancing in a courtroom. Even his children.

  6. Trump-loving congressional candidate says politicians must be ‘faithful in marriage’ to have her support

She seems confused. Trump has had five children with three different women and lived in public housing for the previous four years.

Meat Loaf -- the singer with some monstrous hits -- has died at the age of 74.

The singer's manager, Michael Greene, confirmed Meat Loaf died Thursday night. Sources with knowledge tell TMZ ... he was supposed to attend a business dinner earlier this week for a show he's working on -- "I'd Do Anything for Love" -- but the dinner was canceled because he became seriously ill with COVID. Sources tell us that condition quickly became critical.

Our sources say Meat Loaf has been outspoken about COVID, railing with folks in Australia recently about vaccine mandates. We do not know if he was vaccinated.

Greene added that Meat Loaf's wife and 2 daughters were by his side when he passed away.

Meat Loaf was one of the greatest rock singers of all time. His 1977 "Bat Out of Hell" album sold an astounding 65 million copies. That album produced several hits, including "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," which charted at #11 on Billboard.

    Another anti-vaxxer meets his maker.

    1. Meat Loaf was a Meat Head.

      There. I said it.

  8. How the new focus on Ivanka Trump and Jan. 6 will expose dark MAGA truths

To an unsettling degree, a large swath of 2022 GOP candidates are deriving energy for their campaigns from the myth that the underlying “cause” of the Jan. 6 rioters was in some sense just.

But this mythmaking is on a collision course with another powerful force: the House select committee’s examination of those events, and the actual facts about them that the committee will likely reveal.

The committee’s new focus on Ivanka Trump signals what this eventual pile-up will look like. It shows the committee is developing an unexpectedly comprehensive picture of how inextricably linked the violence was to a genuine plot to thwart a legitimately elected government from taking power.

Which, in turn, should make it harder for Republicans to campaign on Jan. 6 mythologizing without facing more intense scrutiny and blowback.

    1. Ivanka Makes it Clear She Wants Nothing to Do With J6 Committee and Twitter is in Hysterics

The January 6th Committee has asked Ivanka Trump to sit for an interview, but she'll only agree if it's on Donald's lap.

  9. The only way Ivanka T. will sit still for that long is if there is a hard wooden pony she can ride during the interview?
