Steve Schmidt calls for ‘venomous and dangerous’ Rupert Murdoch to be stripped of US citizenship

Mod
: One of the reasons I don't have cable is so I can't be forced to give money to Fox News. Schmidt's solution is better.

Steve Schmidt calls for ‘venomous and dangerous’ Rupert Murdoch to be stripped of US citizenship (Raw Story link): Lincoln Project co-founder and former GOP strategist Steve Schmidt wants the United States to strip Rupert Murdoch of his U.S. citizenship, calling the 91-year-old Australian-born media titan "the most venomous and dangerous foreigner to ever arrive on American soil."

Murdoch is the man behind News Corp, a massive multi-national conglomerate that in the U.S. owns Fox News, The New York Post, the Wall Street Journal, book publisher HarperCollins, and even Realtor.com. But it is Fox News that Schmidt is focused on.

"The January 6 Committee will prove a massive conspiracy," Schmidt tweeted Tuesday night. "That conspiracy will likely involve Fox News hosts and personalities. Rupert Murdoch is responsible for what happens on Fox News, which has long claimed in Federal Court that is not news but entertainment."

Taking a dig at Murdoch and the birther movement which Fox News amplified, Schmidt says Murdoch "is not a Birthright Citizen like @BarackObama. He is a Naturalized Citizen. Though it happens rarely, there is a Denaturalization process that can lead to revocation of US Citizenship and removal from the country.

Murdoch
became a U.S. citizen in 1985 so he could own American television stations.

"There are conditions and requirements for Denaturalization," Schmidt continues. "This should be studied closely by Attorneys. I believe a strong case could be made that @rupertmurdoch, the most venomous and dangerous foreigner to ever arrive on American soil meets it easily."

Schmidt in his final tweet tags former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who over the past few years has accused Murdoch and his media properties of undermining democracy in the U.S. and in Australia.

Last November Schmidt said Murdoch “has been a pancreatic cancer on democracy, pluralism and decency.” And in February Schmidt suggested Fox News was an enemy of the U.S., calling it "an American Fifth Column that has declared war on American patriotism."

  1. Fox News gets most of its revenues from cable and satellite tv fees. People pay more for fox news on their cable and satellite service than any other channel. Most of Fox News revenues come from people who "don't " watch Fox News. If people who "don't watch fox news demand that the cost of fox news be takeoff their cable and satellite bills ..."This" is what it takes to cripple Fox News.

    1. We could put Fox out of business. Just cancel your cable or satellite TV. And tell the person on the other end of the line the reason why -- because they carry Fox. If enough people did that, Fox would be de-platformed or available only as a conscious choice by a subscriber.

    2. Interesting idea. I suppose there ARE circumstances under which citizenship could be rescinded. Beaming Russian propaganda into American households might be one of them. (After all, Tucker Carlson is airing on Russian TV, and Fox executives have done NOTHING about that.)

The two countries will step up their cooperation in defense procurement by Finland joining an agreement to acquire anti-tank weapons from Swedish weapons maker Saab Dynamics, a subsidiary of Saab, the ministry said.

  8. Trump taints Pennsylvania GOP Senate primary with fresh fraud lies

Ex-President Donald Trump is injecting his democracy-damaging fraud claims into a new election cycle, urging his friend Mehmet Oz to simply declare he won a too-close-to-call race for the Republican Senate nomination in Pennsylvania -- a key state in Trump's desperate bid to steal the 2020 election.

The cliffhanger contest between Oz and David McCormick, another claimant to Trump's legacy, is the marquee race from Tuesday's round of primaries -- and carries calamitous echoes of 2020 election controversy and ill omens for 2024.

As does the runaway victor in the commonwealth's GOP gubernatorial primary -- state Sen. Doug Mastriano, who ran a campaign rooted in Trump's falsehoods about the last presidential election being stolen and who could oversee the 2024 White House race in the state if he wins in November.

In a state that could be pivotal to control of the US Senate, top Republicans are raising concerns that Mastriano could drag the party's Senate nominee down, while Democratic nominee Josh Shapiro is already shaping the race by warning the state could fall into the clutches of a dangerous extremist.

  20. Verizon & AT&T Are Raising Wireless Rates – Try These Low-Cost Cell Phone Plans Instead.

People might not realize anything’s different right away, but Bloomberg reports the price hike will be in the form of a $1.35 administrative charge for each line starting in June. Additionally, it looks like data plans will also be increasing by $2.20 a month, while basic service plans will see an increase of 98 cents. Even though the numbers may seem insignificant on a monthly basis, they would undoubtedly add up over the course of a year.

On top of that, AT&T and Verizon are hardly the only businesses raising prices right now, and all those small fees and price hikes can really add up to a major burden on consumers.
